  1. Let him walk or sit out the entire season if you have to. Whatever you do Bruins do not give this guy a mega contract. I now fully wish we'd traded Swayman for a haul when his stock was highest and moved forward with Ullmark while continuing to develop young tenders. The writing was on the wall with Swayman when he publicly bitched about arbitration.

  2. Swayman should get 4yrs @7mil/yr. That's double his salary now. If not , trade him.
Bussi should be the backup, send Korp to AHL.
If Sway leaves, ride the ship with Bussi and Korp.

  3. While I've always liked Swayman, he's not top of the market kind of talent, at least not yet. He doesn't sign by the start of the year, trade him to get a piece the B's really need.

  4. Why isn't anyone comparing his projected contract to Tuukka Rask? I think Rask played 46 games the season before he was signed in 13-14 for his $7M x 7Y contact? Swayman played 42 games this year, sure it's a huge gamble and no way he's a $9.5M goalie with, as you put it, the limited sample size and also he's not been the #1 guy. It's a gamble and I'd have to dive into the CBA, but why not sign him to an incentive based contact, $7MAAV x 7-8 years, guaranteed money up front, and then allow him to play is way into a 2-2.5M bonus, Sure it pushed bonus money forward and an unknown CAP hit for the season years out based on his performance, but the AAV is stable and years out it could look like a bargain signing him now. As everyone is saying the CAP is only going to go up years out, maybe $5Mish per season for a few years in a COVID catchup scenario. Oh, and then you hang the play your way into stability and do not give Swayman a no-trade clause the second half of the contract. He plays well and he stays; he's not the guy everyone thinks he is and then after a few years you dump him, possibly eat some of the AAV and retain money, but the Bs aren't stuck with him. Other side of the coin sign him to a 3-4 year deal at $6.5-7M and he does everything everyone thinks he can and the Bs will lose him years out because he will want #1 goalie $10-12M+ per season years out. My take, sign him now and years out the $8M+ he might be asking for will be a bargain. Back to my couch..GO Bs!

  5. Trade him for a pick and a prospect, he's not as good as he and his agent think he is, and his leverage is not nearly as strong as he thinks.

  6. Swayman was ready last year to play more games, he proved that in the playoffs. If you know he needs a contract, you want him as the guy moving forward, why did he not play more games? Burins mismanaged Swayman progress they wanted him longterm they need pay him for the potential. Or his next contract a lot more than top goaltender comps looking at right now, or he just walk away as a UFA.

  7. He played half the season and wants prime cash.
Love the guy, fantastic goalie but he's looking a bit greedy.
If he doesn't want to play for the BRUINS….so be it.

  8. He can enjoy playing in Switzerland for a year if hes set on 9.5 million. Don Sweeney showing a backnone is the right approach
