I’m confused… Is this salary cap era only or something? How are Lidstrom and Larkin the « best » when Steve Yzerman and Gordie Howe exist?
Also seems crazy that Zadina somehow isn’t the most wasted potential.
Anyway, if Lidstrom isn’t eligible for best defender for some reason and operating under the assumption this is salary cap era, I’ll go with the criminally underrated Brian Rafalski.

Why pick a defenseman at all? We had guys like Yzerman, Fedorov, Draper, and Datsyuk who all won Selkes. Because the idea of putting a d-man up there who isn’t Lidstrom is just silly.
