  1. Now isles have all that term and $$$'s invested in a goalie with a wonky back that will never last the term of the deal. Probably another carey price headed for ltir permanantly down the line. It just never ends. Better find some goalies for the future louzer cause the future aint gonna be pretty. And louzer secrecy is because he still thinks of himself like a mob don the title he got in nj years ago who doesn't know how to be visible with fans in 21st century. Out of date fool should be running bingo night at retirement home not an nhl team in this day and age.

  2. Gil,I’m an old x goalie that has had two major back surgeries, the last one ended with two rods and eight screws. Theirs a special place in hell for senile Lou. A slight injury? But illya’s been here all summer. Smfh Lke I said last week family members wasting money on season tickets. The injury obviously happened during the season and he was allowed to play like mayfield. Any time you have surgery it doesn’t matter the body part you’re never the same. We should now at least be told what he had done.

  3. Hey Gil, thanks for the update, I didn’t get catch the info about EF’s report. I’ll blame Lou for a lot of the isles problems and I haven’t paid for any tickets yet and now I’m not so sure I will. 10 years ago and beyond, any big organization could get away with not disclosing information to the public, in this day everyone or most want transparency especially when they are spending their hard earned money on a product and essentially the isles are a product, a damaged one at that. We can all speculate as to why the info on his injury wasn’t disclosed and it really doesn’t affect me financially, I’ll just sit home and watch the games unless they look like garbage and then I’ll flip the channel but to the fans who dropped a few hundred dollars on tickets, food and parking, it means a lot and they should be on the phone and emailing tickets sales, flooding ownerships emails with questions and demand answers and if they are not happy, get their money back. As for Sorokin, I know more than a few people that has back surgery, some minor and some major and most are doing well but none are back to where they were prior to the season juries or ailments, age + injury = problems no matter how you slice it and 1 of my friends that went in for a “minor” procedure on his back no longer has any pain but damage was done during surgery and he now walks with such a distinct limp, he initially regretted having the surgery.

  4. Honestly I've got 3 friends who had back surgery and were in construction they've never been better so let's hope he'll make a strong recovery bc I got season tickets

  5. Since, Lou knew Sorokin had back surgery and i real expectation that we might miss one or maybe 2 months to start the season then why didnt he get another scoring forward

As you well know you dont make the pkayoffs in november but you can miss the playoffs in November

Over the last 10 years team outside of a playoff spot by Thanksgiving usually miss the playoffs

  6. Lamarillo has to go, he’s Junk Garbage, just another year hoping for the best, should be a better start than last year, You can’t compare Roy and Lambert, Huge Monster job for the Next General Manager, great show thanks Gil !!!

  7. And Lou goes and signs a 29
Year old goalie to an 8 year deal for 8.25 per instead of perhaps a bridge deal knowing of this health issue. Please remove Lou! He should resign!!!! The owners are wearing blinders! The back is a serious issue for a goalie who is on the ice the whole game! The mismanagement of a once great franchise continues! Thanks Gil

  8. Anything with back is super serious Gil, especially needing surgery for it! Man if he ain’t right isles are in trouble

  9. Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? The truth is out that Ilya Sorokin had back surgery. When and how did this happen? Lou Lamoriello doesn't like to share with the media because the media likes to take things and twist it out of proportion. Sorokin's starting the first year of an $8 year contract extension. I'm convinced Patrick Roy's right he should be ready, as long as he doesn't make matters worse during training camp. So far, the kids look promising. Aidan Foup, 26 years old, and looks good. HAPPY 🎂, RICK DI PIETRO. Promising career cut short by a knee injury. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  10. sometimes this lou code of silence is beyond mystique and legend and is just downright hurtful to the team and annoying AF

  11. Good morning team! Not too happy to hear it was back surgery, which is a serious thing for a goalie. I have my fingers crossed, and going to be optimistic, he'll have a speedy recovery and he'll be back to his old form soon but, don't push his return. Let's play it safe and have him in games only when he is absolutely 100% able to play at his highest level. Get better soon Ilya. We're all backing you, Sir. Gil, thanks for the info. Being in the dark about this whole thing, is, and was not a comfortable feeling. Even if Sorokin isn't ready to start the season, I'm ready for hockey to get going. Everyone, have a great day! See you all again during the next show. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  12. I’m hoping it was a microdiscectomy or even less severe. I’m not a pro athlete, nor can I say my results are universal but I had the procedure done. One day I was in agony, pill dependent, and immobile, and the next it was as if I never had anything wrong. Again, I’m not a pro goalie and I’m not saying that is the procedure that Sorokin got but if it’s that, it may not be a very serious thing in the long run (fingers crossed)

  13. Depending when he had the surgery but I doubt it was a fusion being a fusion he’d be out for the year more than likely it was a discectomy or maybe laminectomy the discectomy heals the quickest being there’s no bone being removed or grafted in. Still worried about that because I had back surgery then nine surgeries later, so hopefully things an isolated incident. On the topic of Lou he seriously needs to retire. He’s making the islanders hard to watch with his egotistical stick in the past approach.

  14. Lol the dynasty team didn’t have this much secrecy. Lou runs this like a George Steinbrenner but we are not the 80’s Islanders nor are we the late 90’s NY Yankees. They were both champion teams. I was there for both and unfortunately we aren’t that rn. That mindset hinders not helps if you don’t have that caliber of team. Cart before the horse kinda thing.

  15. Easy to tell he was injured last year. When Consistent and top notch falls off like that they are not healthy! GREAT GOALIE I hope he is alright

  16. I scanned through some of the comments and either missed or nobody referenced what I’m about to say. When you say Deja vu all over again and knowing Sorokin’s injury is back related (& serious enough for surgery) the first thing that came rushing to my mind is Mike Bossy’s career ending back spasms. Hopefully, by the grace of God, primarily for Sorokin, and additionally for the organization & the fans, this is something that won’t become career ending. Now, if this situation with his back does cut his 8 year contract (career) short would the organization still be on the hook for the total value of the contract?

  17. Gil this is how I look at this situation…..We are screwed regarding a goalie, which means more loses, which means hopefully the end for Lou as a GM. It is time to look to the future. Time to rebuild, sell every player 30 and older. Bring up Dufour, Maggio and the rest of the kids this season. Time to turn the page on this roster.

  18. I wonder if Roy's slip up will have backlash from old Lou. I can potentially see this marriage going south fast.

I just hope this is not another RD diaster.
