J’ai eu ce rappel aujourd’hui pour voir à quel point Ovi est proche. Bien que je ne pense pas que cette prédiction d’il y a 4 ans soit réaliste à ce stade, quelles sont les chances qu’il la réalise cette année ?
Can’t edit the post, but I believe to get it in the first 45 games, he’d need to put down 0.91 goals per game

I think he will. With Chychrun, Dubois, Mangiapane and the growth of Lapierre, McMichael, Protas, Miroschnishenko, I think our offense will be significantly more threathening this year and this will help Ovi.

He’s not scoring 42 goals in 45 games. He’s not even scoring 42 goals in 82 games. He’ll get the record early-mid next season as long as he doesn’t have any major injuries.

No I don’t

45 games into the season? Very unlikely even for a goal scorer at his peak like Matthews to score 42 in 45. I personally think Ovi gets around 30 this year and then breaks the record next season.

I think he hits it in the first half of next season barring any huge cold stretches or…significant missed time

Game 45 looks like an away game against Ottawa, most (all?) of his milestones have come on the road.
Game 46 is home against Pittsburgh, that’d be sick.
I think that’s too soon though. My “realistic” dream scenario is to do it last game of the season in Pittsburgh

Wayne Gretzky only scored 9 goals in his final season at the age of 38. That’s how hard this record is to equal.

Ask around Christmas. We’ll have a better idea then

I think he gets 30 this year and he gets the record just shortly after New Year’s 2026

No. Next year.

F it…I think he’ll do it. Last season, he had uncharacteristically bad puck luck and the offense in general was terrible. I think he’ll be more comfortable in Carbs’ system and finish the year with 45 goals. It’s a stronger team and there is much more balance. He’ll get better looks 5v5 and on the PP due to how the team was built up since last season.

Someone was doing math instead of watching Toronto lose a game to a Zamboni driver?
Ok_Fly_7085
I’d say around a 25% chance he does it this year. But if he gets off to a hot start, something like 12+ in the first 20 games, this is going to be a very exciting year to watch Caps hockey. I can’t wait.

Fingers crossed for lots of garbage time goals
