  1. I’m surprised BOS is so low on these predictions. After getting bullied by FL two years in a row, they’ve taken a page out of their book and built their roster for playoff hockey. McAvoy is their smallest D, and their bottom six wingers are big bruisers who can skate on the forecheck. 2nd tallest team on average, 1st heaviest team on average, 6th youngest team on average.

  2. my predictions:
    Floridax
    Torontox
    Detroitx
    Tampax
    Bostonx
    Buffalo
    Ottawa
    Montreal

    Rangersx
    New Jerseyx
    Carolinax
    Islanders
    Washington
    Pittsburg
    Columbus
    Philly

  3. Flyers have the same team as last year plus Michkov. Yes they didnt make any major offseason moves, but they won most of their games last year off of hard work and good coaching. No reason that changes into this year.

  4. People forget that Lindy Ruff is back in Buffalo. That’s huge. A full season of Quinn and UPL being the #1 goalie and you have the recipe.

  5. other than the panthers, the next 7 to me can easily like picking them out of a bag. Toronto Tampa and the bruins either through pieces moving on, historical deficiencies (toronto), aging squads, and lack of shoring up, and the bottom 4 growing and building I can see a shift and would not be surprised if all 4 of the bottom teams squeak in and pass 3 of the 4 top teams. Those that pan montreal, last year they were not an easy win and if my memory serves they were in the most 1 goal games. So they added talent and if players they lost through injury stay healthy, they can win 6-10 games more. I would not bet for them to win the cup, but looking at the division i see an increasing parity because of the cycles of the teams that were at the top and the bottom teams are all on an uptick. I still see toronto further down the slope, as I do boston, and especially tampa. Tampa lost too much talent and don't have the prospects to step up to maintain their spot. Boston is becoming a goalie team, and losing their 1b to ottawa puts them an injury away from the lottery. Toronto on top of getting older, losing parts, have not addressed their unbalanced team, and like I said the bottom teams are primed to speed their return to league's bottom (as long as Shanahan is there they remain a pretender at best). Sport can be cruel and the Atlantic will become cut throat island

  6. One of Buffalo, Detroit, or Ottawa have to make the playoffs this year. Boston or Tampa could fall out

  7. Especially with luke hughes being hurt , you could make an argument 7 of best 8 east teams are from the atlantic , thats why they need to drop this shitty playoff format and go back to 1v8 2v7

  8. unless the devils add at least another solid offensive piece they’re going to have a lot more issues than ppl seem to think

  9. For me:

    Atlantic:
    Florida
    Toronto
    Detroit*
    Boston*
    Montreal*
    Tampa Bay
    Buffalo
    Ottawa

    Metro:
    New York Rangers
    Carolina
    New Jersey
    New York Islanders
    Washington
    Philadelphia
    Pittsburgh
    Columbus

  10. Bostons entire team is 30 or younger except for marchy and coyle at 36 and 32. Saying theyre going to fall off because of age is a lazy take.

  11. The Hockey News HATES the Red Wings. Dunno what we ever did to them lol. I also can’t see Buffalo finishing behind Ottawa. I think Buffalo has issues…like, NO ONE plays defense…but Ottawa just seems like it’s a shit show. My hot take is…I think the order in the Atlantic is…Florida, Toronto, Boston, Detroit, Tampa. I think Tampa is in decline and trying to use bubble gum and duct tape to keep it together. I think losing Stammer and Sergachev is gonna hurt them.

  12. The leafs will miss there playoff so that Matthews will not loose a playoff game and can recover early in the summer by some rounds of golf. Detroit with Kane and a strong Seider will make the playoffs and go to the conference final. Cheers!

  13. I heard Crosby will resign a 2 x 8.7 millions dollars deal again, I don't know what move they'll make if they want to be in the playoffs.

In the atlantic division, I'm an habs fan and my top 4 would be Panthers, Toronto, Tampa and Detroit/Ottawa. I think the bruins are becoming older and I don't think they'll have the same season as the last one (if they do, well good for them). Detroit and Ottawa have been in rebuild mode for a long time, I hope they get better or even make the playoffs. People are talking about Ottawa since like 2020 saying they should make the playoffs, so I think it should start real soon otherwise they'll have to do something about it. Detroit were so close to making the playoffs, they had 91 pts (same as the capitals who were in the playoffs) so I think this season they should be better by adding some depth with Tarasenko and Tyler Motte.

  14. It’s always about injuries and missed ice time. Detroit will make the play offs if they avoid major injuries. No big deal if they miss, hopefully, they will see a lot more minutes for the new generation of youth that should make the wings Stanly Cup challengers for the next few years.

  15. Honestly I think from what I’ve seen, it’s not that I want to pull the habs up as much as I just think due to the off season the sabres gotta go down, they gotta be worse right?

  16. The Atlantic is probably the best and most competitive…but probably the most crazy and unstable to analyze ! I salute you for trying to make a ranking and i get kinda why everybody put Montréal last…but that might become the biggest surprise of the year for any of those teams ! I mean all of them have crazy thing to do, or big if to pass to be at the top !

-The Panther…did the replace Montour and the depth enough to be at the top again ?
-The Leafs…Did they improve the depth enough, the goalie position enough and will Berube be a good fit for them ? Also will they finally clean that whole Marner thing before it goes really bad…
-The lightning…Stamkos and Sergachev gone…do they have enough gas in the tank ?
-The Bruins…will they have a number 1 goalie this year or will it be the great duo of Korpisalo and Dipietro…and will the loss of Marchand hurt them ?
-The Wings…was last year a hiccup or a feature ?
-The Senator…is Ullmark enough and will that depth finally click ?
-The Sabre…Was last year a hiccup or a feature and will Lindy Ruff bring them to victory ?
    – Montréal…will you please stop being injured so we can see in all his glory the real top 6 that Hugues wants to create and will Monty and Primeau be enough ?

So no sure thing at all, it's gonna be crazy in the Atlantic !!!

  17. It's always Oilers. Canadians just tug away the shiny toy in hope it will bring that cup back to Canada. It won't

  18. Load management with Swayman could prove troublesome. This will be his first season without a Vezina winner sharing the net. Big step for him and will sink or swim Boston’s season.

  19. Too many people are sleeping on the Sens getting Ullmark, a new coaching staff, and Matt Nichol (elite conditioning coach to help finally cut down on injuries).

I see them swapping places with Detroit here.

  20. Unfortunately I beleive he is spot on with the flyers. Torts had an average team playing well above their ability. Questionable goaltending and holes everywhere in the lineup will be exploited. Unfortunately the stench of Chuckles the Incompetent Clown will remain in the franchise. The good news is their salary structure will improve after this season

I thought when db was hired, it’d be 3-5 yrs before getting back into the playoffs. Unless they shock us this season, my prediction will be true. Unfortunately Chuckles, along with Homer and Clarkie (and the failure of Hexy) have made this franchise virtually unsalvageable

If they don’t hit on their three first round picks next season and make substantial growth next summer, it will be much longer until they turn it around
