So, I get the impression we leaf fans are being cultivated to expect another Marner contract. If Marner signs mid-season and they again don’t have playoff success. How are fan going to feel if he gets a no-movement clause, which seems par-for-the -course which the Shanaplan?

Marner was never tried at center because he was most effective on either Tavares or Matthews wing.
Matthews needs a winger to drive the play for him. That can be Domi now, and Marner can be put at center BUT is that the commitment you want to give a player on an expiring contract?
Nylander at centre has been tried. It has failed because he isn’t defensively sound as he should be. He’s also the type of player to disappear after being paid than one who needs to prove himself, so if the contract talks included him moving to centre to get that type of money, the Leafs made a blunder.
I’m not sure it’s failed vs it’s been abandoned before the ability to fully evaluate.

You know it’s almost hockey season when you get your annual trying Nylander at center conversion.
Run it back (again) and then try Nylander at center (again). This hockey club is literally insane.

why haven't they tried mitchy at centre he played centre in the OHL for the knights and he is so much better at defence
If Willie is going to play center this season, he MUST improve his defensive play! To be a complete 200 foot player like Auston #34, Willie needs to be defensive – minded, when he does not, possess the puck? GO LEAFS GO!!!!
A guy the CAN'T play Defense and get stripped of the puck constantly and your going to make him a centre?? This is the year the wheels really come off this disaster of a team! All other teams get younger, this team gets older, slower, and more injury prone! Craig Berube will be a shell of a men come year end. No way will he be able to get this team to buy into his way of playing, sure, it will look good but by Christmas it's going to get ugly.

Berube looked at the tapes from last year….saw that Little Willie won't go into corners or dirty areas….so the result….put him at Center where he doesn't have to go into corners…..
Nylander at 2C? Hmmmmm … nope, don't see it. If he was really centre material, he would have played his way there already.
