Only in Canucks fandom can our starter goalie literally invent brand new ways to injure himself

  2. I feel like I have even more questions now. But this is positive? I think?

  3. mrtomjones

This isnt exactly comforting lol. We absolutely need to get a new goalie to start the year. Starting with Silovs as starter would be a mistake.

Does this mean we’re going to LTIR him and sign Lankinen for more than the ~1million we heard about?

  5. Some people legitimately thought he was going to announce some catastrophic career ending surgery in this press conference when management simply gave him the chance to explain his own injury and recovery.

I know it’s in quotes as a euphemism, but getting injured from walking into a literal wall seems like a very Canucks thing to happen.

At this point, just shut him down until he is 100% comfortable. Practice with the team, but don’t risk rushing him back into a game. I think our team is much stronger than last season with the UFA signings. We should be able to win more high-scoring games.

    Let’s get Lankinen.

Fuck I wish he would just tell us what it is. No other hockey player has dealt with it? I’m more curious than anything else…

I totally forgot they had Patera … he’s pretty solid… no need to panic

Any link to the press conference? I feel like I want to hear this in context

My primary take is maybe Silovs will see this as just as big an opportunity as the one he got in the playoffs and smashes it. Now that would be a storyline.

I haven’t watched the meeting with the media yet but for now my second take is, would he ever say anything other than he expects to be at 100% again? So I’m still a bit worried but not too much.

With Markstrom and now Demko and probably a bunch of others I’m forgetting it always feels like goalies are injured in Vancouver. Is every team like this and I just don’t notice?

Honestly unless things are super dire I would gamble missing the playoffs if it meant Demko is 100% healthy by the time the playoffs start, even if it means just squeaking in. If the goal is a cup the team needs him healthy for the real season.

  12. Can we all take a moment and reflect on some of the highly upvoted, vitriolic comments about Sara Civian 4 months ago when she reported Demko was out for the playoffs?

  13. HiveMindMacD

Meh for now I feel fine. In Silovs we trust and i genuinely think this team can outscore most of its problems

  14. kumanoodle

Too injury prone! At this point, he’ll never get to 100%. “Confident” = doesn’t know.

  15. DishwasherFromSurrey

Don’t like hearing that he had trouble kneeling down to play with his son this summer

I don’t mean to be that guy but this secrecy is starting to worry me. When they tell you there’s nothing to worry about, that’s when you start worrying.

Not to mention it’s been MONTHS and nothing of note has been said about this injury.

  17. ForceEconomy9988

Im relieved to hear he believes he’s going to be 100%. To me that’s the most important thing. Can deal with all this injury BS as long as, as he says, there’s light at the end of the tunnel from this mess.

  18. Well I’m happy *he* has full confidence he will get back to 100%
