  1. This sucks. Neither look very good. The Y is way too big and the advent health is too many letters with a logo.

  2. DoinWhale

I’ll be honest, I really don’t see the big deal

  3. Freethinker9

At least they are our colors and kinda blend in 🤷

  4. p0ncedele0n

These suck. And this cheesy dramatic video makes it worse.

  5. Enough-Register5313

Knew ad patches were bound to come eventually but at least it matches with our jersey and doesn’t stick out like other teams’

  6. Tim111762

Good news is all your fanatics jerseys get one too!!

  7. 20itwasntin04

I’d put money that this was a decision made by the people who just spent $2Billion for a slice of the pie. Hopefully they all rot.

  8. At least they’re giving to the community instead of selling out. They may be ugly but at least I can add yet another reason to be proud of the greatest sports franchise in the world

  9. NatsGnats

Why are we giving money to for-profit organizations???? They can get money on their own???? Give money to organizations actually in need, like the Tampa Bay History Center next door, or the Seminole tribe that the building resides on.

    Fucking BOOOOOOOOOOO

Fuck off trying to act like this is some important cause when you know you’re getting a nice chunk of change for this bullshit.

At least they also announced a ton of renovations to the arena including that big wraparound screen looks pretty cool, at least there are visible positive results of the added income as well as it not being a gambling sponsorship like a bunch of other teams.

We are a capitalistic dystopia. Does this suprise anyone, really?

  13. OGHamToast

I’m not happy about this in any way, but they could’ve been so much worse.

  14. whatacharacter

You can tell they know it’s going to go over poorly when they drop news on a Friday night

  15. Remarkable-Elk-8545

Can we at least get a deal with a septic tank company. Might as well go big or go home.

  16. tarponfish

Nike, Adidas, Under Armor have had their advertised logo on everything they produce and I’ve managed to ignore it and watch the player for years. This changes nothing for me.

The league is in cash grab mode when they should be growing the consumer base.

  17. rhodesleadnowhere

Jfc they’re worse than I anticipated. Not only do these jerseys look incredibly cheap, they put the ad right in your face. The league has lost its way

For everyone that hates these new patches, please take a moment and read this.

I was at the launch event for the new season tonight and they introduced the person behind all of the community projects they do and two that stand out are the local YMCA that has been in Tampa for over 140 years (which really surprised me) and Advent Health. They explained the many ways in which both of the organizations give to/help the community in and around Tampa and they partnered with them for the new patches. The CEO of the Lightning mentioned that they would be giving $1M to the community this season.

It’s very easy to be cynical and just rant about a money grab, but honestly, these patches don’t change anything. The patches were on the jerseys in the Lightning stores and jersey kiosks around the arena. These include blank jerseys and player jerseys. They’re going to be a part of the jerseys moving forward anyway, and this video was just an introduction to them. I hope this helps explain the reasoning behind these patches and hopefully will temper some of that hate about them.

Not sure which is worse. The hideous ads on the jerseys or the gall of attempting to present them as some inspirational badge of honor.

So… those two sponsors are better than most, if we *have* to have ad patches… *However*, are these the fanatics jerseys already?
Because that pan at the 1/6th point in the video looks like knockoff jersey, no??

Lots of the products in this ad look cheap or “off” to me but maybe it’s just my eyes.

As to the ads though, I’m at least glad these are orgs somewhat related to our community. It’s better than Oreo, or Paint, TD, etc.
Of course I hate they exist on the jersey at all.. but it could have been worse.

Weirdly I was just reading today about the Tampa budget cut on affordable housing, and some of that money is going to the local YMCA.. so if they use that money for jersey sponsorship.. is the taxpayers paying for that patch? lol I don’t know what I’m saying
