@Sabres de Buffalo

Le meilleur gardien a été remplacé par le pire gardien.

Le meilleur gardien était évidemment Hasek, donc je vais le changer en le pire.

Comrie. You need to go back to the 1980s to find other Sabres goalies who put up as poor numbers over as many games. For a MODERN goalie to do what Comrie did over as many games is almost incomprehensible.

He was truly generational, just not in a way anyone should ever be proud of.

Honorable mention to shootout king Robin Lehner

Man, this could be a few players. Patrick LaLime, Peter Skudra, Bob Essessna.

But I’m going to go with my personal least favorite, Robin Lehner. All the talent in the world and a fine goalie when he was on, but the literally would not take care of himself or compose himself like a professional. The final straw for me was the high ankle sprain. The doctors told him to get on a bike because that is the exact treatment for a high ankle sprain. He decided he was smarter than the doctors, ignored their advice and made his ankle worse, then when he gets to Vegas he blames the whole ordeal on the Sabres medical staff.

What a goddamn moron and a waste of immense talent.

Robin Lehner in shootouts, especially during the 2016-17 season. He had a whopping .000 save percentage. Seriously, he did not stop a single shot on net during the shootout.

He has the lowest career shootout SV% for anyone with 50+ saves. I’m sure we’ve had worse goalies but Lehner was a massive disappointment.

  5. This is getting dumb

EDIT: Did people forget Aaron Dell existed?

  6. Carter Hutton. This bloke was signed for 3 yes deal to be starting goalie

Essensa essentially enters every excellent elucidation… end…

I want to be clever and go back a ways and say someone like Darcy Wakaluk, but no, it’s Aaron Dell. Remember that game against the Leafs where he let one just kind of dribble through his legs while he watched it and then flopped to the ice after it had already crossed the goal line? And he was a dirty punk.

  9. Could have respectfully put Miller in this list.

I will not accept any Tokarski slander in here.

    It’s definitely Dell tho

I’m pretty sure it should be Hutton if they’re all fair game, maybe Darcy Wakaluk, Tom Draper. Someone who stuck around longer like Cloutier might be more fair.

I’m seeing people say Comrie, but he never stayed healthy long enough to hit a groove one way or another and he had some huge games for us, one or two where he practically won the game on his own. Hutton…if he had a great game, I’m blanking on it.

It’s sad that there are this many different answers that I can agree with lol.

How is Grigorenko not the bigger bust, I remember feeling like there was more hype
    for him than Zagrapan.

Best goal Scorer was Perreault or Mogilny. I KNEW it was going to be Dahlin. There have been much better Defensemen here over the years.

For the vote, Dell all the way

  15. Ghost_taco

Aaron Dell, Patrick Lalime, John Blue, Al Smith, Robin Lehner

Guys Dell is recency bias. Dude was terrible, sure. He was absolutely my vote until I saw the first Lalime comment. Then I remembered The LaLime Disease. Remember the feeling when Miller needed a night off after being ridden hard and you saw his name on the lineup sheet. You knew the ending before the game began. He played 47 games across three seasons. He only won 9.

  17. demi-on-my-mind

My vote goes to a guy that hasn’t been mentioned yet: the goal-scoring field himself, Mika Noronen. First-round pick and maybe got the raw end of a three-goalie situation, but was a disappointment whenever he had a shot.

The other goalies in this thread were never expected to be good goalies. There was an expectation for Noronen. He never delivered, despite obvious talent.

But at least he still has his goal, and his record of being the first Finnish goalie to score in the NHL. But that wasn’t his job.
