J’ai rencontré Alison Lukan il y a un an au KCI et je lui ai demandé : « Si j’avais un maillot de Lukan, le signerait-elle ? »
Beaucoup de choses ont changé en un an. Non seulement elle se souvenait de moi, mais elle me demandait activement comment s’était passée ma vie depuis notre rencontre. Je me suis levée de mon fauteuil roulant et je lui ai raconté tout ce qui comptait.
Cette équipe (ainsi que ce subreddit) a changé ma vie.
J’ai rejoint l’équipe de hockey sur luge grâce aux encouragements de ce subreddit pour rester actif et social tout en faisant face à ma santé déclinante. Au cours de cette période, je me suis fait des amis, des relations et des souvenirs pour la vie.
Aujourd’hui, j’ai pu me lever et me présenter à mon idole, Magnus. Un homme trans qui commence tout juste son voyage de découverte de soi. Le soutien et l’amour d’Alison étaient exactement ce dont j’avais besoin ; elle est vraiment la personne la plus gentille que j’aie jamais rencontrée.

Commentators are unsung heroes in sports. Their jobs really enrich the experience as a fan when they do it well, but they never get the same level of fanfare a player would. She probably doesn’t get asked to sign jerseys super often, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if you were the first.
This was probably almost as cool an experience for her as it was for you!
