But having two complete centres is way more of a asset than a sniper winger
i swear matthews kadri and ozhiganov or whatever his name is was trying to do this in warmups before they got off the ice, but they couldnt hit the crossbar so they got off

Leafs are by no means a team without flaws, as a Leafs fan I'll be the first to admit it. We get hemmed into our own zone too frequently, we don't control the puck and allow teams to pepper Freddy far too often than they should. We're a team that can be flimsy on the boards and sometimes we lose puck battles we cannot afford to lose, and especially against the Sabres besides the Hyman – Tavares – Marner Line, I wasn't too impressed at the aggressiveness and skating of the other 3 lines. (Kadri's line was ok too in the first period)
However on the other hand, I can't help but at least point to coaching as part of the reason this game was as close as it was. The Leafs being out shot is nothing new LMAO, but against a Sabres team that was tired coming of a back to back and being dominated on puck possession and having the game have to go to overtime? There were 2 critical mistakes in that game:
Par Lindholm and Freddy Gauthier had NO business being on the ice facing the likes of Jack Eichel, Rasmus Dahlin, Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart. Jake Gardiner and Nikita Zaitsev arguably the least defensively responsible d-men the Leafs have, had NO business going up against those guys either without the presence of a responsible center like Tavares or Kadri on the ice with them. We signed Par Lindholm to be our 4th line center, the guy only won 25% (1 of 4) of his draws and was on the ice for 2 of Buffalo's 3 goals. Our 4th line managed to be an impressive -2 in only 6 minutes of action. This issue will no doubt be solved when we get Nylander back, but damn what was Babcock thinking lmao, in what coach's guide book does it say: take your worst line with a center who hasn't won a faceoff today and put them up against arguably 2 of the most deadly lines in the Atlantic Division and maybe even the NHL?!?!?

I was at this game and it seemed even though Buffalo had the advantage of chosing which lines went out against who the matchups we're terrible. The Mattews line was against Sabotka's line all night. Tavares line was matched up with Eichel which is ok. And then Kadri was against the Middlestat line. Buffalo just seemed to not know what matchups they wanted. But it was a good game by both teams. As a Toronto fan I feel like Buffalo just needs a couple more depth peices before they are taken seriously. That just my opinion though. I don't hate buffalo.

The video I'm waiting for comes in April when the Leafs get bounced in the first round yet again, and we get to watch the highlights of yet another epic meltdown. The looks on the faces of Tavares, Matthews, Nylander, and Marleau is gonna be priceless.
