It is like when the Washington NFL team was called ‘Football Team’. I personally feel that they should have the city or town instead of nickname.

The fact that it’s a finalist for the actual name kind of is bizarre. This isn’t Soccer where every team is just (City) FC.
My god, people will find anything to whine about. It’s one year while they work out their branding. Get offline and spend some time alone outside reflecting on yourself.

Unpopular opinion: the names not -that- bad. The jerseys honestly look pretty cool. I’m sure all the SLC punk/hardcore kids are stoked to have Utah Hardcore jerseys. Guarantee we’re going to see these jerseys as hip and vintage the second they get a proper, name brand. Along side coyote jerseys at Utah games or whalers jerseys at hurricane games etc…
It sounds weird when talking about it and makes people think it’s an adult league or something not related to NHL. Also yelling “Go Hockey Club” as opposed to yelling “Go Red Wings”.

When the Blues played them the other night, I got a notification that the game was starting “Blues vs. Hockey Club starting now!” And I had to think for a second if they were doing a scrimmage against a college all star team or an international team. I was so confused for a solid minute until it clicked who Hockey Club was.
It’s an Utah based team and owner, did you expect a shard of creativity to be present when they named it?
