I’m going to go with Elias Lindholm, now that Semin and Skinner have their Superlatives.
Twitter legend Zach Boychuk. IIRC he had some insane AHL stats but could never hack it in the NHL.
Patches comes to mind— such a huge pickup when we got him and then only getting him for what, 3 games before he was out again? Heartbreak. Imagine where we could have been that year if he was healthy
Current Line up KK, Patches could be up there too (just bad luck for him)
Can I answer with the 2023-24 Carolina Hurricanes?
Haydn Fleury
First, I hope your fur child is alright.
There are way too many people to add to this list;
Victor Rask,
Elias Lindholm,
Jake Bean,
Noah Hanifin,
Haydn Fleury
Hell, we wasted Cam Ward & Eric Staal’s potential because we didn’t put proper teams around them. Can we put a blanket across the entirety of 2009-2018 for the team overall? 🤣
Elias Lindholm
RBA as Best & Svech as most potential is 110% correct
Valentin Zykov. Dude had a great offensive potential, scored 7 points in first 10 games only to be put on bottom6 next season which resulted in Oilers claiming him off waivers. That’s what happens when you put talented players together with bottom6 dudes. He was never the same after being claimed off waivers which is a shame.
Ryan Murphy totally fits this bill
David Tanabe. Had a strong rookie year then phbbbbbbbt
Ryan Suzuki. Dude has been hyped for years.
Sandis Ozolinsh
Necas
I’d say Lindholm, I was pretty young when we drafted him and thought that a 5th overall was guaranteed to be good so it’s partly on me. But I feel like he was on the brink for a while but never took that step next step while here
Think I gotta go Fluery on this one
If it’s Canes wasted the potential, why not Jeff Skinner—did he ever see the playoffs?
Tuomu Ruutu.
Guy had some absurd natural talent but was lazy and ended up injuring himself too many times by playing a heavy hitting game rather than the skill game he was more suited to.
Also, Semin getting worst in top 3 lines seems absurd to me. His play was awful after the last wrist injury for sure, but we got some good play out of him before that. There were a depressingly large number of players that consistently got top 6 minutes who probably should never have played above the fourth line.
Ryan Murphy
Only right answer here : KK
Gustav Forsling
Elias Lindholm, specifically with us.
Eric Staal. Hear me out. Imagine that dude playing on a team that spent to the cap (ALL I ASK).
