To answer to your lineup questionning … 3 players had a good reason to play in Montreal … one is a quebecer and 2 others used to play for the Habs … the rest of your lineup is to evaluate the potentials and you want your better players at home for your fans … this is still training camp .. new jersey had a team c against a team b for mtl
My opinion largely hasn't changed since the last loss. I'd love it if the Devils won, but all the NHL players are looking pretty good and that's what it's important. It's important to remember that every team that's staying in America have only these preseason games to pay attention to, while the Devils are correctly diverting time and resources preparing for Prague.
Alright. Games 1 & 2 for preseason have been pretty shit hockey if I must say. I like being positive but it was hard to watch today.
I’d rather listen to the song “we bring the boom” for 3 hours straight over watching the Montreal Canadiens struggle to beat us with their full roster 😂🤣
Macdermid is a disaster. The highest he should play is beer league. The guy won a lottery with that contract. 1.3M for this!?? The Devils must add 1st round and ship him away to Columbus or Calgary. For 1.3M the Devils could have a very good player who could actually play. MacDermid is a waste of money and spot on a roster.
This game perfectly showed the Devils' depth is one of the worst in the NHL
Two games played and only two goals to show for scored by Hischier and Bratt. Whereas all other teams have 20 yo kids scoring at will. Terrible young talent pool the Devils have.

We are so done with the two injuries and most likely more this season we will be a bottom feeder like I said get a guy for the top six and if you can’t get a guy that’s defensive for a to 4 or even 2 defensive line markstrom is getting old even if we got gib
I absolutely was disappointed when I saw the lineup, but there was a reason for it I feel. First, Keefe has to give everyone a look to see if any of the players are good enough to be more than just an AHL player. The second reason is preparing for a Prague trip to start the regular season. With a preseason game right before that starts, Keefe has to keep some cruddy guys around. It's not going to surprise me if the last preseason game against the Rangers is filled with lots of AHL talent.
In the end it doesn't matter. I'd rather lose the whole preseason and have a great regular season, than the exact opposite.

Still maintaining that preseason means nothing (including score) other than gametime for players, real tape to review, tryouts for some, and different looks for coaches. Understood that a losing mentality is bad at any level.

Losing is not good – this is the attitude of a winning team. You have to hate losing no matter what the situation.
I’m worried the Jack and Timo are still not fully healed. They keep bringing it up throughout the game that they have been kept out to give them more time to recover. Maybe it’s just in my head? Maybe they don’t need to preseason games to be ready? I’m starting to worry about what I’m going to see on the ice in Prague.
Got to gain chemistry with these new faces. Drives me nuts! Bring out your NHL ready lines. Get these guys moving

Ace you can’t get up or down ever with preseason. Especially with a new coach. Keefe has to learn everyone and see what chemistry can start evolving. He is giving everyone a real look which is uncommon. Don’t get caught up on these results just see how things are developing. The start in Prague really hurts this team honestly but they have to work with what they have.
Lots of great looks from the kids. Don’t forget it’s all comets after game 4. Most important thing to pay attention to is how the defenders play in this modified system.

Y'all, we literally don't have to turn into a Toronto media mindset – where they're straight up asking Berube "Is it time to panic?" to his face last night 😅…The games literally don't count, they don't need to mean something more significant, chill. Next game against the Capitals is supposed to have almost a full roster. I don't have any issues with the lines so far. Having Cotter, Bastian, and Lazar play first line minutes in a preseason game feels like Keefe just wants to see what they are capable of and to see how well they play with each other and giving them more time to adjust to each which will normally be more difficult when playing 4th line minutes.
