Man I really expected our first fourth line to at least be able to score once. Still love you Lazar, Cotter you seem cool. Bastian, not a fan.
There was nothing of value to take away from yesterday’s game other than it was a preseason game.
With a first line of Cotter-Lazar-Bastian… There just isn’t a lot of offense getting generated.
1. Labanc looks washed. I hope I’m wrong but I’m not seeing a path for him here.
2. Casey looked good. Much better than I expected actually. I think he has some positional things to learn about d-zone play in the NHL but that is what the AHL is for.
3. Nemec looked rusty. Just a couple lazy plays that you don’t want from someone who is expected to contribute big minutes. But again, it’s preseason so I’ll let it slide for now.
4. Xavier Parent was a pleasant surprise. I don’t have him on the short list to make the team out of camp, but he will be among the first Utica call-ups
5. Goaltending was solid. A loss was expected due to the lack of firepower, but I liked what I saw between the pipes.
