I have played hockey for 30+ years, and I have watched hockey just as long— and I couldn’t tell you one single goal horn.
My first game was on Febuary 24th 2024, Canucks vs Bruins, I got the tickets as a Christmas gift. The bruins were up 2-0 up until 6 and a half minutes in the game until my favourite player in overtime Trent Frederic got a penalty and fucked everything over for me. (I just moved to a city 100 km away from Rodgers Arena 5.5 months prior) So I have trauma from hearing the Vancouver Canucks goal horn. Plus, the green men finally showed up after eight years. Now that I lost my respect for Trent Frederic I’m now an Anaheim Ducks fan because it’s in our division and I can go to Abbotsford Canucks games and always see the SAN Diego Gulls play because in the AHL you only play your conference

6;26 Also Ottawa's goal horn is an old VIA rail train horn which as a kid I HATED (hated the loud horn that they would blow EVERY TIME THEY PULL INTO THE STATION) so I can always recongize it. I think they've actually changed the rules about train horns so they no longer blow the horn when they pull into the station unless some IDIOT is crossing the tracks when the train's coming and instead they just have that ding ding ding ding. I've heard the reason they changed it was because of the noise causing seizures in people with epilepsy and seizure conditions and it causing meltdowns in people (usually kids) with autism.
