1. These are the texts to my dad…
Its Time For….. Tonights Report On Why The Devils Lost! 9/25/24.

    1. Markstrom look phenomenal in the first 30 minutes and then worse than Nico daws in the second

    2. Logan thompson stood on his head

    3. Our offense never really woke up. Line chemistry looked rough, and the players are all clearly rusty

    4. Our defense has literal holes because half of them are injured and another 2 have been injured for a long time

And that’s all for tonights report! See you Friday for another report on the devils inevitable loss

Ok well we got two goals in the remaining 5 minutes after saying this

    Still gonna lose tho
And it wouldn’t be a devils game with no empty net goal against us. They pulled the goalie and the inevitable will happen

    Called it
    Gonna be a long season

Not tryna be negative because I believe in this team I am just pointing out what I noticed. We really need to work on puck clearing/pressure control, and and consistency. This is what preseason is for but our roster is so different that we needed that longer camp

  2. This is Dougies 2nd game since late Nov/early December of last year. Timo and Jack had offseason surgery. New coach/system and new players. Timing is off, it'd going to take time to adjust to all this. My only negative is Colton White being absolutely abysmal again. Aside from Dougie and Dillon, the dmen were ahlers or rookies. Casey is legit and can easily step in for a few games. Cotter, Lazar, and Bastian weren't playing and that line I'd a weapon. Haula still out, Pesce still recovering and Luke is out for a few weeks. The team will be fine.

Keefe is slowly messing with lines and I rather have this now than 2 games into the season like Ruff used to do. It's a shortened preseason for the ones going to Prague so they have very little time to get used to one another. This is honestly the least worried I've been heading into a season. The team has the depth to deal with some injures and despite giving up 4 , Markstrom looked good and made big saves when needed.

  3. Glad I drank at Redds cause even though it was a pre season game those goals on Markstrom were incredibly deflating. Glad the Devils came back in the very end to make it actually entertaining but still quite the bummer.

Was super hyped to run into you outside Redds though, Ace! Always a damn pleasure seeing ya! I also ended up on the Emoji Cam jumbotron and caught one of the shirts during the T Shirt toss. It's actually a super sweet tee, real impressed.

I definitely can't wait to see them at 100% cause these funky lines aren't showing this team's true potential. Missing Cotter already.

  4. LOL @ people once again throwing in the towel over a preseason loss. One thing that stood out, and Keefe even mentioned this, is how much that MEAT LINE was missed. Their boost to the defensive part of the game was noticeable by their absence. Friday should be a lot closer to an actual representation of what the regular season lineup will look like so that's where I would put a little more stock in their performance (while remembering that it's STILL preseason and there's no need to go all-out and risk injury). Casey really stood out tonight, too. He should definitely play in Utica for at least this season but he looks like he's going to fit into the NHL really well and very soon.

  5. Usually I wouldn't be concerned and joke about how this is all part of the 0-7 plan, but unfortunately I did see flashes of the '23'24 New Utica Devets while we were fielding a good number of top forwards, not to mention it's Washington. Couple of times we're just watching the puck in front of the net instead of cleaning it up, or leaving Markstrom out to dry. Ace, you and I can't keep on perpetuating this joke! We need some preseason games with a competitive lineup!

On the other hand, Casey was hot out there today. I know we were calling to use him as a piece over the summer, but he can definitely be a quality backup since we always seem to be down at least one defenseman, and he'll probably be a big part of Fitz's "bright future."

  6. My takeaways:

    -Hughes was very hesitant.
-Markstrom did not look good but he was hung to dry at times
-I liked Misyul and would think he can fight Hattaka for a spot
-Casey looked like a G. Maybe a hair too flashy and he absolutely needs to work on his passing but hot damn he looked good.
-Dillon, I have nothing but nice words for him.

  7. Ohh boy did that game have last year written all over it horrible defensive breakdowns scoring multiple goals in a short amount of time..

  8. Markstrom was good those were grade a chances the devils seemed to just give them alot of space in our zone and seemed to be chasing all over.. maybe players just rusty cuz casey has been playong alot of hockey latley and he was super noticeable tonight

  9. Just got home from the game Yo.
Eating a nice Chicken ParM as I write this.
Per the game, no hits, no net drives, combined with too many toostie-fruitsy passes.
Jack looked shaken but returned with a goal. Mysul played solid. Casey was good. And Markstrom played really well. Not much help on the backend.
The only reason it was even close is because Marktrom played great.

  10. It felt like a sloppy play on the Devils side. The so called speed was not being noticeable at all. Devils just looking super rusty, I was under the impression they were hungry, this does not look like a hungry team. Markstrom did not stop to shots that should have been stopped. If we play rags, we are going to get walked over again. I am sorry I don't really see much difference right now, Same nonsense from the team when they say we need to move on and look on the next game, by the time they wake up their hunger they will be back golfing again.

  11. The way they are playing is continuing a disturbing trend
from last year-yes it is pre-season-you know what I don't care I want to put pressure on everybody!!
I wan't them to be a tough team to play it starts NOW
    0 and 3 not acceptable !!!

  12. i’m concerned already. we had 2 full nhl lines full of stars and are starter in net and top line d paring and struggled to the caps. all in seeing is injuries luke, hateka is injured now. jack limped off the ice tonight idk not feeling great

  13. So, what could Markstrom have done, It was breakaway? The same what VV could have. But Marksrrom played great and VV didn't 😂.

  14. Casey is going to Utica, but after Prague (as an extra, most likely). Better for his development to get top AHL minutes as a 1st year pro. Missed this one – but sounds like more defensive blunders. Doesn't surprise me with a new system and half AHL roster that they're not all on the same page just yet (from the sound of it).
