It’s crazy to put the Devils up at the top given how they did last year. They were 10 points out of a playoff spot. Yes, there’s a lot of talent on the roster and they should do a lot better than that this year. But a Stanley Cup is « what we expect »?

I may be out of the loop here but is New Jersey really expected to be a contender this year? I mean they’ve made the playoffs once since 2018. It seems a like a bit much to call them contenders no?

I’m a huge Devils fan and I wouldn’t even have them that high, switch the Devils with the Stars. The Stars are scary, and with all the moves Nashville did this off-season, one can make the argument for them as well.

Devils expect a cup, the Leafs have a decent shot, and Vegas is a longshot?

    Oof.

  5. NJ? LoL, no. Leafs has a decent shot? I dont think so. I would put Avs and Dallas in the top box. Panthers maybe in the decent shot box.

Move my team down one. They only play well when against the wall, and then the jitters set in when they have the chance to pounce.

Avs, stars and oilers are the true contenders out west. The narrative once again of the devils going to the cup is crazy. Win a playoff round with this team then we can talk. Also putting Vegas, Tampa and Carolina in long shot is fucking crazy. 2 cup winners within the last 5 years who have great teams still. Carolina still looks like they could win the cup any season. Terrible list imo

People are way too high on Vancouver imo. I predict they place 3rd or 4th in a weak Pacific division.

This list is terrible, however, stop using whatever you’re using to choke the chicken because that’s 100% causing the burning

  10. Even a playoff spot is a bit of a longshot right now. Let’s ride out the last year of cap hell before getting any hope. Alao once we make the postseason there’s the even bigger hurdle of the first round.

I approve of the Red Wings’ estimate. That’s really all it will take to make Wings fans happy this year.

How the fuck are the canucks and the devils higher than the avs and the stars lol. And the leafs don’t have a decent shot, they have a long shot compared to Carolina or Boston or even fuckin shittepeg. This is a bizarre list

Nashville should be expecting one since they went all in. Dallas should be up there too. Replace New Jersey and Vancouver with them. If I were a devils fan, I would just want to get back to the playoffs after a really disappointing season.

Maybe I’m being too optimistic because of last year’s over achievement and the arrival of Michkov but maybe the flyers should be one rung higher. They just barely missed the playoffs last year (actually choked away the 3 seed in the metro that they held until the last month of the season), have a coach that will wring every thing he can out of marginal players, saw younger players develop, and added a potentially game changing player. Don’t get me wrong, the flyers are probably at best a playoff bubble team but the ceiling is higher than this chart gives them credit
