Very unfortunate injury for Laine, but it looks like he skated across the ice directly into a defender who was standing flat footed… You can't blame the defender because he didnt make a clear path for an opponent to skate through.
Did I hear that right? Shannon … 5-2 overtime win?.l😅
While I certainly feel bad for Laine, and you frankly never want to see anyone out there getting hurt, I do not think the play that he got hurt on was in any way intention or reckless by Pare. It’s very unfortunate result to Laine trying to force his way through 2 Leaf defenders, one who was basically stationary and just trying to impede his path through, as is his job. Definitely could have called a penalty for the knee, but I think it’s important to note the lack of intent to hurt. I hope the injury isn’t as bad as it looked like it could be and Laine is back sooner than later. This league is better when talent is playing and not in the press box.
This all said. Xhekaj’s unhinged response was not ok. I get that intentional or not Pare should expect to answer to answer the bell, but Xhekaj is a huge mismatch, and when it became apparent that Pare wasn’t going to engage in a fight he should have left it alone and let someone else more his class fight him or just lined him up for heavy checks all night long and made every shift left in the game miserable for him. Instead of jumping him and repeatedly punching Pare in the back of the head while on the ice is exactly the kind of behavior that should get you a lengthy suspension. I understand the need he feels to respond, but that can’t be how you do it. That is so dangerous.
Bruins fan wishing the best for PLaine. 😐
A lot of big names getting hurt this pre-season.
Habs why oh why
Why did I have no idea Logan Thompson and Tage Thompson were related
Montreal getting two injuries, including one to an important new player, is very on theme.
I swear, it's been like five years of mass injuries for Montreal.
As a Habs fan I gotta say, I just want this shit to end
Michkov is only 19 .
That kid is one driven individual. Really impressed with his skills. The Flyers can no doubt build around him.
This is typical Montreal injuries….they just cannot keep guys in the lineup healthy. They are just cursed with injuries. You could put a player who has NEVER missed a game due to injury, place them on the Habs team and they WILL GET INJURED.
The Laine injury reminds me of the Lindros-Stevens hit. I got the same 'worst thing to happen at the worst time for the guy' feeling.
the injury bug continues to hurt the habs
Reinbacher MIGHT have played but would have benefitted greatly from a year in AHL
Oilers aren't going to keep Hoffman or put Kane on LTIR, he hasn't done well enough to displace anyone else (especially when Lavoie needs a look at the NHL level) and they really want their accumulated cap space for the deadline
Was at the Blues game, and we had a pretty good turnout- if you didn’t look at the roster, you would’ve thought it was a regular season game. Along with Holloway getting two goals, one of them was set up by both Joseph brothers. Fun comeback win, even if the first half of it was pretty sloppy
I don't think Logan and Tage Thompson are related
Logan Thompson isn’t related to rage or tyce
Patrik's tackler has as long a vacation as the wave. Stupid trick. Purposeful move from the guy. Then tried to stop him like this.🤬
Laine seems to have a dark cloud over him. These last few seasons have been a downer. I hope things change for him from here on out and wish him all the best.
montreal must have pissed SOMEBODY off upstairs, because jesus christ laine didn't deserve to have that injury
Tage and Tyce Thompson are not related to Logan Bud
An eye for an aye, I hope to see some Leafs star in a stecher next game vs the Habs.
Wait hol up. Tyce and Tage are not brothers with Logan Thompson lol
I feel bad for Laine but y'know when I get an injury I don't get to fall back on a guaranteed multi million dollar salary and world class doctors and rehab specialists. Just sayin'. It's bad luck for him and the Habs but it's not that big a deal in terms of tragedy.
how on earth is montreal gonna ever compete when they have almost 20 million tied up in laine , anderson , galagher , sounds like a fkn train wreck to me , and sadly yes i am a habs fan 🙁
I hope Ethan Frank gets picked up, caps may have missed this one, fast skater (beats mcdavid)that scores. maybe someone will just throw him out there for 30 games and see, he is already a top player in the AHL the last two years which they won two caulder cups..
Oh man Shannon, thought you were wearing a Coyle jersey with the C on it for a sec lol
Is Logan actually related to Tage? Can’t find any sight confirming this. Maybe Cousins?
Tyce Thompson's dad, Brent Thompson, is or was long time coach at Bridgeport. Not sure if he's still there as coach, but he's probably still with the Islanders in some capacity. Getting hired by the Islanders is a lifetime job, and they like keeping things in the family.
Lifelong Habs fan…I was not a fan of the Laine signing so im not too shaken by the injury…im way more p*ssed that we passed on Michkov…
…and picked Reinbacker instead…when we had surplus of young D Man and havnt been able to score in decades, now…Reinbacker out…Michkov on fire and ready to make an impact this year!!!…bet you he gets more goals than our overated "sniper" Cole Caufield…sigh! Sad to watch!
Ive lost all my excitement for the season as a habs fan. I still never agreed with the reinbacher pick, makes zero sense to me and it just keeps getting worse and worse as every day passes
He was out to end Laine's season. You dont do that shit in a pre season if not your goal is to hurt someone
Hey did steven stamkos play last night
Thank you for everything!
Any update on Laine's status?
Doesn’t matter who is on the Habs roster, they will never be a contender until this ridiculous injury curse is lifted. And this year it’s before the season even begins. Rebuild or not, the last several years has been extremely frustrating. I mean, can they ice a full line up ever!?
I blame MTL's twitter for what's happened to the Habs. They're trying to force a rivalry with Philly for some reason over Michkov, their beatwriters and twitter heads like McCagg attack Michkov saying he wasn't good, they were elated that Laine nixed a trade to Philly (which I mean Philly was happy about aswell we really didnt want him.) Now look, Michkov flyin, Laine and Reinbacher hurt, and it's all cause they kept talkin shit. I wish them a speedy recovery but MTL fans need to dial their tone down. You're still a basement dweller like Philly is lol.
