  1. Parent’s 47 win season came at a time when there was no overtime. All regulation wins! Imagine if he played overtime and then a shootout for those 15 ties? He might have won 55 games.

  2. This is a little off-topic, but Bernie and I share the same birthday. Except his was 50 years before mine. I actually got to meet him at an autograph session in Wildwood. It was a pretty cool experience.

  3. NY Rangers' fan here. I'm 55 and not old enough to have seen Parent in his prime. But I've seen several videos and I'm blown away. More importantly, he's just a good and decent person.

  4. The original “Let’s Go Flyers!” chant, right at the beginning of the video is how it used to be (and how the organist, real or digital, still plays it). I am not sure when it changed or why.
Bernie is still a Philly hero. He will be loved here forever!

  5. I watched the philly Boston cup game yesterday and saw Bernie in action…..
Surprised me seeing him after the win how chubby he was….lol

  6. As a Habs fan I have nuthin but mad respect for Bernie Parent. The only goalie to ever win the Conn Smythe Trophy in back to back years

  7. You thought the Chicago Cubs drought was bad? Just wait.

There’s nobody alive today that will see the Flyers win another championship.

  8. For any young people checking this out, think Carey Price. Always ahead of the play, square, controlling rebounds, but can make the reflex save if things go wrong. Style is different but that'll give you an idea of how great Bernie was.

  9. I noticed one eye is a different color than the other eye I wonder was that a result of his eye injury.

  10. I would say for those two years 74,75 he was probably the best goaltender ever at least the best I had ever seen and that's saying a lot.

  11. There was that mystique in 74/75, he’d never take his mask off after the win. You never saw the face.

  12. When I was in my teens I was a big fan of Bernie, especially when he was on the Philadelphia Blazers, I would go to the Civic Center and you could get pretty close to the Action the way the seating was and I was able to get some Great Pictures!!

  13. Bernie, do you remember me? I watched you win 2 Stanley cups and after you retired I would see you in the Spectrum in between periods having a smoke. I always walked up to you and said hello and you always said it back to me. Then I would always just stand there with you not saying a word. it's 10/11/22 and to this day, you are still the best goal tender to ever lived! I was in awe just getting to stand there with you as you smoked. Those were the best of times. best

  14. I do need to correct this video. They said Bernie returned to Philadelphia in 1973. This is untrue. He returned in 1972 with the WHA's Blazers.

  15. Bernie's own teammate, Jimmy Watson, struck him in the eye destroying his sight and ending his career.

  16. Are use to idolize his style playing street hockey, the way he moved constantly on the net his mannerisms. I’m proud to have totally copied his style as goalie. 👍

  17. I hated the Flyers from back then, still do. But I always had a ton of respect for Bernie. The guy was a wall back there.

  18. The Flyers traded Bernie away in 1971 and got the Mulligan of Mulligans getting him back in 1973. Thank the creation of the WHA for that.

  19. When I was a kid growing up in the early 70s in South Jersey, we loved the Flyers and played street hockey all the time. My friend John across the street was always telling us that his uncle was friends with Bernie. We were like, yeah, right, whatever. He said he was on Bernie's yacht down in Wildwood. We didn't believe him. Then, one day, he comes out of his house with a picture of him and Bernie on the dock in front of the yacht. He shut us up!

  20. I just loved him as a kid. Too bad we couldn't see him play when he was at his best in Philadelphia. (I lived in Toronto)

  21. Take it from a Bruins fan who regularly watch his 1970-75 team rack up the goals; Bernie Parent was the real deal.Ever from Boston, he qas something to see. Who Stopped Orr and Esposito? Bernie Parent did. Nuff' said!
