À la fin de la pré-saison, une dernière réflexion sur ces échanges/signatures ufa ?

Très curieux de voir ce qui arrive à ces garçons.

  1. Like Tocchet said at the year end presser, last season’s team put the respect back onto the jersey. It’s the first good team we have had in a long time and likely one of the best regular season teams we get to witness in franchise history. I wish these players well. No matter how much they have played for us last year, they contributed to a team that brought pride into the fan base. I like the moves we made this off season, and I believe we have another good team in front of us. Let’s hope last season was the beginning of a new era of good Canucks hockey.

Podkolzin – after 3 separate coaches and marginally any improvement, it was time for a change of scenery. Plus the Canucks had no room keeping him and risked losing him for nothing. If PDG was waived, he stands no chance.

DeSmith – wanted term, which Canucks couldn’t match with Silovs coming into his own.

Cole, Lindholm and Zadorov – overpaid.

  3. PTCruiserApologist

Zadorov as a bruin makes me feel sick

  4. kitkatlover2

Lindy’s out with an injury but I’m wishing him the best. Unrelated to hockey, but he got married this summer and had his second baby!

  5. The guys who wanted to remain Canucks took pay cuts to be here. The guys that prioritized money are in these slides. Good luck to them, they helped bring excitement back to our fanbase for the first time in a decade. But I’m happy with the team we’ve got

  6. I think Cole’s presence will be missed during regular season, he was solid and apparently a big calming voice in the locker room. He got a lot of shit at the end because of that Edmonton series and he didn’t want to blame it on injury but apparently was playing with a big lower body iniury (broken foot I think it was mentioned).

If he’s healthy again he’s gonna be good on Utah’s 3rd pair playing less minutes now that he’s older. Their d-core is pretty good

  7. I like Podz but I can’t see him developing much more, Desmith was decent but his problematic history makes me glad we didn’t re-sign him (not tryna be the oilers), Cole was reliable until playoffs, Lindholm was a fun rental but he was never going to stay

Zadorov is the only one I was sad to see go but I’m glad he got his bag, hope he doesn’t live up to the contract tho lol

DeSmith, Pods and Cole no. I like Lindholms game and Zadorov seemed to fit in nicely but in the end cost was too high. The fact we will never see Boston much is nice, but I like the pick ups we made.

  9. SpectreFire

With how Desharnais looked in preseason, we probably got 80% of Zadarov for 40% of the price.

  10. Just makes me sad the Canucks had a 5,6 and 10th overall and have basically nothing to show for it.

  11. Zadorov would be a Canuck right now if his AAV went down to 4.5 or if the Canucks were not retaining on Mikheyev.

Lindholm was never coming back. He wanted the bag and it would’ve been foolishness for Vancouver to give it to him.

Podkolzin – I wish it had worked out here. But there was clearly no room.

Cole and DeSmith, no real strong opinion.

  12. NerdPunch

I know we’re tight against the Cap, but in a vacuum I would take Ian Cole at 3 million over Forbort at 1.5.

  13. I hate that Lindholm and Zadorov both went to the Bruins but fml those are perfect Bruins

Zadorov especially, if he gets reps with McAvoy then I think we’ll see him reach another level

Hate that Podkolzin went to the Oilers of all teams but something tells me we don’t be too worried about facing him either way

DeSmith is perfect for Dallas, he can handle a 1B workload which will make it easier on Oettinger who needs the extra rest with Dallas’ rough travel schedule

Contrary to popular opinion, I’d have liked to see us keep Cole. I think he can still log valuable minutes, he just needs a little more maintenance to make sure he doesn’t have those playoff blunders. He’ll be a solid mentor to the younger guys in Utah while playing top-4 minutes.

  14. Saaaintniiiick

I FORGOT MIKHEYEV AND LAFFERTY WHICH IS IRONIC BUT IM SORRY

  15. Chizzler_83

I think those boston deals look bad sooner than later but who knows

  16. Stinky_Toes12

Podkolzin was basically a bust at this point

Desmith knew silovs was gonna get the backup spot so it was best for him to go where he would get minutes

Cole sold us idc never want him back lol

Lindholm and zadorov were asking for too much and I think a lot of people overrated the teams need for those 2

  17. DarkestThought

I’m only disappointed at losing what we gave up for Lindholm. He did play well in the playoffs but yeah… wasn’t worth it.

  18. BrokenArmsFrigidMom

No big losses. We paid a premium for Lindholm, so it stings to lose him for nothing, but that’s the gamble with rentals. We got better bang for our buck by shoring up multiple positions with the money we would have spent on Lindholm and Zadorov, and are now way deeper than we would have been with them.

  19. Irrational dislike for Elias Lindholm is building

  20. OldEastMocha

I see guilt on Big Z’s face. He knows he screwed up.

  21. julesieee

Lindy and Zadorov in Boston is hilarious now since they both pretty much ate up all of the money Swayman’s agent is asking for and the whole contract circus is hilarious AF and I live for the schadenfreude 😈

Ottengier/Desmith tandem is gonna be terrifying. Gonna miss his setup and his eyes 👀

I actually wish Cole is with us for another year. He was a beast during the Nashville playoffs. I’m gonna miss his well-spoken interviews and his beard 🥹😭

Podz… too bad it didnt work out here. 🤷‍♂️ Him being in an Oilers jersey looks weird. BoA this season is gonna be Podz VS Kuzy.

  22. It’s crazy how many assets we traded for Zadorov and Lindholm just to have them for a few months

  23. ImAnAfricanCanuck

They were all replaceable to an extent, and all of them have been replaced, to an extent.

Our cap situation was so tight. They did pretty good considering. I do think they wasted money on Forbort, as we have Juulsen already, I feel like it would have made more sense to pick up Schultz or Shattenkirk.

  24. nergishmelvin

I loved Podz like a son. But he wasn’t going to make this team.

The only guy I genuinely wish we made room for is Zadorov. We could have sent Myers packing and saved a bit elsewhere to make it work. There was a serious risk of overpayment with him, but I don’t think Boston did that. They just got a good player with rare physical tools who is finally coming into his own.
