i agree with juggernaut, 1 guy does not make a team, it is folish to say that, Briere became a "superstar" and it got to his head which showed during the playoffs.
i'm not a sabres fan but briere and drury are there two best players, yes they have depth but those guys did sooo much of the work that you won't be able to find anyone to fill those shoes, and briere dissapearing in the playoffs? did you watch the same playoffs i did, cause briere had a couple ot winners so your definetly wrong there
I'm from Buffalo and a sabres fan. Buffalo knew Vanek would get offered a huge deal and that is why they knew they wouldnt be able to sign Briere or Drury. Vanek had 43 goals and is only going into his 3rd season! The Senators lost big names last year and look how they did this year. The Sabres have Connolly and Stafford,two guys who they didnt have all of last year. They have immense potential along with Vanek and I guarantee Buffalo makes the Playoffs again.

These standings are ridiculous. There is no way that New Jersey and Toronto will finish above the flyers. Philadelphia should at least be in 5th place. The flyers are definitely gonna have over 100 points. Ottawa will definitely not finish highert than Pittsburgh, New York, and Philly
no way, teemu selane and niedermayer are probably gonna retire this year. They're both old now, especially niedermayer. The ducks' time has already come, its the red wings that are going to represent the western conference in the Stanley Cup this season.

phily with 114 not likely, more like 90, it will be the sens then buffalo, drury is going to pull a lindros with nyr and crosby is going to have such a big head, he will forget he is playing hockey, the rest are rebuilding or keeping as far below salary cap as they can and biding their time. the sabres are young and very good, Lindey will work his magic and now that they have their young core signed to multi year deal

I personally would have let Vanek go and savor Edmonton's first round picks for the next 4 years (knowing they will still suck and the picks will be high in the draft).
Lets see how Lowe's offer to ANA will pan out, they will be hurting after they lose all those picks.
