Possible free third round pick at the deadline I guess. Not sure that’s worth taking away opportunity from younger guys, but I guess the GM knows better than I

On one hand, his defensive play is so bad that it’ll surely help us lose games to get us a better pick.

On the other, I think I would’ve rather a spot go to a younger guy full-time.

I don’t know about this. Nobody wanted him except us, it’ll be tough to flip him at the deadline as he’ll have to have a strong strong year. Not sure if that risk is worth pushing the kids down the lineup

Seems like a nice cheap contract for a very productive offensive D man.

If we *somehow* don’t make the playoffs he’ll fetch some nice assets later on.

    I like it Barrie much!

I trust Conroy and am sure he’s got a plan I can’t see. I just hate this at face value. Show me what you’ve got Connie.

Pachal really earned that spot and now he gets to split time or might even hit waivers. Fuck this.

As long as this doesn’t mean pachal won’t be locked into the 6 this is fine. He’s been one of our best d men dating back to last season.

I’m fine with this. Let Barrie QB the PP and play his way into getting us a pick at the trade deadline.

Mildly annoyed tbh, to my eyes it just creates a log jam at D. That means Hanley and Tinordi down to the AHL then, and they’ll demand 1st pair minutes since they’re vets. And that means less ice time for Poirier, Bruzstewicz, Solovyov, grushnikov, and Kuznetsov. In fact one of those five is going to have to sit each game.

Alternatively they could run with 8 D, which present another whole list of problems, including sending at least one goalie down to the AHL and exposing them to waivers.

Barrie’s offensive upside is huge for the team. We need to at least field a decent powerplay, and he can QB the point on PP1 or PP2. I wonder if this open up some opportunities to explore a Rasmus trade? And then flip Barrie at the deadline and lets the kids that developed in the AHL finish the season with the big club?

Pad his numbers with some PP time and we can fetch a decent return for him at the trade deadline.

Why??? This makes ZERO sense to me on so many levels

I think he’s going to be an excellent 7th d. Great locker room guy high offensive talent great hockey iq and can play both sides. Can practice with power play lines bringing tips and ideas. If we can get Bruce up to get mentored by him I think would be perfect situation. But I do think this guarantees an Andersson trade is on the horizon
