Bit of a surprise given his pedigree but he has not impressed in the preseason. I don’t think he’s got the jump they’re looking for.

Granted I’ve only watched 2 of the 4 preseason games, so tell me if he looked particularly washed last night, but I’m a little surprised by this. I thought he’d be a half decent 4C for the Avs this year.

  3. I was really hoping he’d make the team. I wish he’d been here for the Cup, instead of on the other side.

I really don’t know who the Avs can roll out at 4c that will be a better fit than Belly. Weird move. Hopefully they have a good backup plan in place

Very surprised by this, I wonder who they have in mind to be 4c if not PEB

Every beat and their mother said the was a lock lmao

They’re pushing for the kids, Tynan, and possibly Kelly for 4C. I hope they can somehow bring Bells back and have probably released so another team can pick him up before he goes AHL or healthy scratch

I have already mentally prepared for a 46% team faceoff percentage season. I’m ready to be hurt again.

As much as I love Bellemare and was kinda looking forward to seeing him play for the Avs again, I think this makes sense and is ultimately for the best.

It feels like the Avs, for a while now, have struggled to develop their prospect pool and that only gets harder when aging vets keep filling up the 4th line. It’s a two way street. Yes, the prospects need to show they have the chops, but they also need an avenue to show that outside of an annual training camp, which is what the 4th line is great for. I know we’re in our cup window and prospect development shouldn’t be a priority over icing a competitive cup winning roster, but I don’t think it should be completely thrown by the wayside. One less 4th line vet means one more prospect is given the chance to step up and get more reps in at an NHL pace.

Wonder if they’ll give Ivan the look

  11. Sadness. Not going to armchair gm this. Other people get paid to make these decisions. Just gotta trust the process.

Reading they want Parker Kelly taking looks at C makes more sense now

Intriguing! In view of this, what is the fourth line likely to look like? I haven’t fully kept up with who’s been good and bad during preseason.

Love Bellemare but I’m okay with him not making the team. I feel like the Avs constantly bring in fringe NHL vets and clog up the bottom lines never really giving prospects the opportunity to show what they have to offer.

The CBA requires at least 8 « veteran » players per team in each preseason game. Every team brings in 1-3 older guys on PTOs to hit the quota without burning out their regular lineup, with exactly zero intent to keep them past preseason. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Well, time for me to stop prognosticating like I know fuck-all about what goes on.

Understandable, but I’m sad a potential feel good story has been squashed.

  18. Elusive_Manatee

Didn’t want to pay for the water bill with him taking showers each intermission.

  19. new_nimmerzz

No!!!! Maybe he wanted more $$ than they were willing to offer?

  20. poetryinemotion

Surprising but I like it. Give some of the kids who fit the system better an actual chance to show

  21. Skyeagle1

Isn’t it still possible they sign him in the future? Didn’t they do something like that last season?
