Oilers needs grit who do the oilers have to stick up for the oilers no grit no fighters Ryan needs to be wavie
I'd rather see the Oilers trade Josh Brown and Dereck Ryan to Columbus 4 a draft pick and open up room for a trade 4 a dman or forward what ever is needed first
that 9.5 million dollar pylon that can't skate and pass at the same time, or make a stretch pass is really frustrating
While its obvious to say if nobody is impressing over the other than play the more experienced or safer to not make errors (based on cap) you cant try the younger guys in march. Its better to try them bow while u got the 9 games trial period. Lavoie, Philip,, Emberson and Dermott.
Fall back on stecher, brown and Ryan
Team looks as expected.
Dermott Send Down
Philp Stays NHL
J.Brown send Down
Lavoie Send Down
Brutal game to watch but preseason. Rodrique looked lost in net. Agree with you on Dermit and Brown. Is Barron from Montreal a good trade target ? Thanks for the update.
What pisses a lot of us off……the average Joe knows and has known for a long time that the defence is the Oilers Achilles heal…..and management did nothing about it.
The Brown signing was perplexing at the time for most fans. We have an abundance of 6 and 7 defencemen.
The coaching staff is high on Josh Brown- analytically the worst defensemen in the league last year. Best in Class is out the window
Agree with you on a few things;
1) I have not been impressed with Josh Brown; he’s not fast enough for this Oilers roster.
2) I like what I’ve seen from Travis Dermot; played well against Seattle last night.
3) Ty Emberson is a shut down defenseman and Knobber speaks highly of him. I don’t have enough experience with his play, however I also have not found any reason to send him down, he seems to know his role and one very good quality he has is that he is easily coachable and that’s why Knoblauch likes him. Knobber has had previous experience with him in the AHL.
With Kane being on the IR and not the LTIR the Oilers have no cap room to improve the D. They have no way to make a deal that would improve the D much.
I agree , we need a stronger defense. I believe Brown was a mistake, only time will tell. Cheers! GO OILERS.
Nurse money could be 2 average to good dmen, which would be an improvement to the guy making that money. But, that’s never going to happen.
Wasnt rodrique a nepo selection anyway?
I think the Oilers should just give up on defense and dress all forwards. Go back to 80s hockey and win 8-6 every game. A win is a win. There is a lot of emphasis on needing defense, needing depth scoring and it's rarely addressed in a way that works so maybe balls to the walls offense is the way to go. If nothing else it should be exciting.
Thanks for your update Patrick 👍
I'd sign Dermott and waive Josh Brown. Nobody is going to claim him with 3 years on his deal. He can play his way up.
It really doesnt matter now. Build at trade deadline d first
