So we got older on defense… I mean I’ll take the extra pick but seriously? He’s 31.

Guess Malinski and de Haan showed enough for Bedsy to consider them the de facto 3rd pairing with Kylington as the 7th D

  3. Got something for a cheap fa signing. Not a bad move. Brannstrom really didn’t show up at all in camp or preseason. Good move.

Ah, so he’s expected to be LTIR all year. Means we expect landy to be on LTIR anyway so we won’t accrue cap space

Net result is Avs ownership paying 1.1M for a 2025 4th rd pick.

  6. Can we take a moment to appreciate the brilliance of our front office. We take a guy who won’t play for us, and trade for cap relief, ltir

In the wake of the Swayman/Neely disaster, always signing guys a year early, never hearing anything before both player/team jointly announce, keeping the core going is amazing.

I just want at least one Swede playing for us this year : (

  8. Vancouver fan here: What this trade does is create cap space for both teams.

For the Avalanche: Tucker Poolman’s career is likely over and he’ll never play for Colorado. It’s purely a cap move that lets Colorado add more into their eventual LTIR pool of funds. When Colorado does go into LTIR, you’re going to have around 15 million to play around with. Enjoy!

Additionally it lets the Avs get an asset back for Brannstrom rather than losing him to Waivers for nothing.

For the Canucks: The team wants to stay out of LTIR. By staying outside of LTIR it lets the Canucks accrue cap space for the trade deadline. Last year Vancouver was the most active team when it came to trades (this management team likes to make moves) and having Cap space means you get to do that without having to make every trade 1 for 1 in Salary/Cap Space. I have no idea how Brannstrom will play but It’s depth I guess.

Anyway, a win-win for both teams.

Good luck on your season, should be a fun year.

One of those ticky tack smart moves from the FO, Brannstrom must have not shown anything lol good job getting the pick

I know he’s gonna be on LTIR, but I’m just pumped he’s on our roster. He was fun to watch during my time at UND

From what I saw of Brannstrom (mostly in the Vegas games), he played abysmally. Not shocked tbh

  12. NahdiraZidea

Im not sure why Vancouver retained, if we are putting Poolmam on LTIR why was it needed?

Not a fan of the move but whatever. I have a pretty good feeling that Brannstrom is going to be pretty decent for the Canucks. Would’ve rather we gave Brannstrom and Malinski regular season games before making any permanent lineup moves. Hopefully Malinski can carry over his preseason play to the regular season otherwise not great.

  14. Well that was a quicker than usual experiment

Brannstrom must truly suck ass at this point

  15. Poolman’s contract is supposedly fully insured. Avs got a free 4th round pick and all they have to do is navigate LTIR
