1. I’m glad Swayman held out for that extra $250,000. I will be reassured He will be able to feed his family now.

  2. Sway and his PR Team are in Major Damage Control now . Greedy Fu$%*r thought he better smarten up before everyone hated him

  3. I think Johnson is a must addition right now. His exp is a huge asset to our 3rd or 4th line as well as handy guy on 2nd powerplay unit.
I believe Marchand would take a pay cut similar to Bergeron if it comes to it. Depending on the season Fredrick has he is going to get more cash. Guess we see how much more. We are paying a lot for our defense. I am sure we could get some interest for a few of them and perhaps cut some deals there? Wotherspoon has looked good and Lohrie as well. Carlo instantly comes to mind as someone to unload but the man is handy for penalty kills etc. I like McAvoy but he needs to really start scoring more and play more consistently. He gets a huge pay cheque for 47 points.

  4. "Jones hasn`t looked good at all…" how can he look good with being injured and then playing in games when he couldn`t be as ready as guys who were not trying to come back from an injury? It`s the way you put it sir that bothers me.

  5. Unfortunately Bruins are in Cap jail again. For me, the McAvoy contract looks bad, especially when compared to Montour's deal. Hoping McAvoy can elevate his game.

  6. Phew!
    Sigh (of relief)
Yep – you predicted the 8 x 8. figured you were on it.

the money is finite, has boundaries.
I was more interested in how the "philosophical differences" worked out – meaning, who has control over the contract for how long.

    I like it.

And they left Jeremy with something to prove, hopefully that will come out in his game.

$10 mil payout for the next 2 years seems a bit much,
but the kid is giving up the prime of his career and complete control until he proves himself as a 1A starter goalie.

And they better not be shoving the Western road trip top teams at korpisalo as they did with Ullmark.

If he goes through a 2-month slump, Jeremy needs to eat his own stats.
It'll be tricky maintaining his value if he does go through a slump.

We need to see true statistics for a starter 1A. He's been coddled through his learning curves – now it's time to see what he's really got.

    But this works!

    he's not locked in

He's Reset the goalie market as he wanted

And Lewis gross gets to collect all that commission!

    So its a
    win – win – win!

Thanks for educating fans on how these contracts actually work out depending on where the players live.

CPA Gross knows how to squeeze every penny

Nothing near $11.5 mil lands in Pasta's bank account after all the taxes he pays.

I'm guessing Marchand is not going to bleed his lines dry. Not worried about that one.

Yeah – there's a reason why we had hockey in cold winter climates, where ice exists naturally on the earth, not in highball cocktail glasses!

Not where they need air conditioning in the winter – with hurricanes & tropical storms rolling in every other week! Lol!

We could always get to hockey games in snow storms. Plenty of traction in the 4 x 4 with a huge goalie and his hockey gear!

Thanks for clarifying a lot of this -the average fan really believes that Jeremy is going to be on the Bruins for the next 8 years – they have no idea about the details. They're still split. They don't understand Jeremy is not locked in.

Very clearly, the Bruins don't see him as a proven starter. But they bought the opportunity to find out for the next two seasons.

    -money don't lie.

    Good stuff!
    Thanks!

  7. Easily the best go-to source for Bruins content. You do not talk about stuff you do not need to talk about, your titles are really great (no clickbaits) and you really know what you are talking about. Keep it up man!

  8. Sweeney said “our plan was to negotiate a deal that we both agree and when we got to a common ground which is what we were hoping for and that’s where we ended up.” Why didn’t he just offer that from the beginning? Because of that it took this long for him to sign and isn’t even going to play the first few games.

  9. Considering management overpaid him about 4 million a year and gave him 4 more years than they should’ve, I’d say this was overall a very bad signing. And now we have no money to add a winger that can actually score goals.

  10. They just completely annihilated the cap space for a goalie who’s only played 132 games in the NHL. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I suppose there’s always next season.

  11. wait….Sagan…company ink? Pls explain…I wasnt paying attention to off ice stuff back then but I thought they moved him because he was partying a ton and thus late to team meetings etc?

  12. I truly believe no matter what swayman signed for “fans” would whine and complain.
If he signed for 5 million they would have bitched.
But most of the comments are from casual viewers that don’t follow hockey. They just follow what they heard on the sports channel.
But it is all over now and time to play some hockey.

  13. Again he says 'his family' repeatedly ,does he mean his gf and cats? Also he says he had a 'tremendous' amount of support. /not from the many channels reporting it over the weeks fans comments I had seen . the kid has alot of egotrip on himself.

  14. Can't watch a podcast when a grown man has Matchbox cars & Trucks, Batman & Toys preserved on a wall…🙄

  15. I hope the Bruins have learned a lesson in this? Bruins declined Salary Arbitration to avoid negative experience for Swayman. Clearly they committed to Swayman trading away a $5 Million goalie in Ullmark leaving themselves exposed and shifting leverage to Swayman. This should’ve been settled in July, the agent convinced Swayman his worth was near $9-$10 million. Bruins are now in Cap trouble, however the Cap is going to increase next year. In a few years this contract will look typical for a great goalie. Both sides capitulated to reach agreement. Let’s hope Swayman picks up where he left off last April?

  16. He clearly should have given the Bruins a hometown discount. Just like Ray Bouque did decades ago. Like Patrice Bergeron did for years. And like Brad Marchand has done. Why wouldn't Swayman give the Bruins a discount? They are entitled to hometown discounts from their players, aren't they? How dare Swayman get fair market value?

  17. Very happy for Swayman and the Bruins. In a few years, this contract will look great with the cap going up. Cant wait for the season to start.
