He’s going to get what he wants and he should. Just like Hank did, just like Price.
It is the largest by dollar amount for sure, but it’s less of a percentage of the cap than either Price or Bobrovsky got.
As has been said, the best player on the team wants to be paid the best player on the team. It’s not an unreasonable ask.
It’s just tough because the cap is a miserable, cranky, unforgiving bitch. Like my almost grandmother in law was.

History says absolutely no; the only goalies to win a Stanley Cup while counting for more than 9.1% of the cap have been Vasilevskiy (11.5%) and Bobrovsky (12%), and their teams have the roster construction advantage of no state income tax.
If the lofty projections are accurate and the salary cap skyrockets to $100m by 27-28, we still shouldn’t pay more than 10.5-11 if we want to win. If Shesty is insisting on 11.5+, unfortunately the best thing for this team long term would be to trade him for big assets
