  1. I hope Shesterkin is not playing games with this salary offers that would not be a good thing.

  2. Nothing wrong with being self-interested when negotiating a contract. Can't really judge the guy or assign ulterior motives. Maybe he just wants to be paid what he sees as his relative worth?. Maybe he saw the bottom line what MSG is raking in, eh?
SELFISH is doing what Tavares did to the Islanders team (2018?), when they got nothing for him and had no time. But IDK, maybe it was a clash of egos at the time, and Tavares took his best opportunity when Isles just wouldn't pay him what Toronto was offering which was $11 mill/yr, X 7, BTW.

  3. It’s like I’ve been saying: his value is WAY inflated at the moment. Let’s play the season and his price will have to drop. We all should’ve known this would happen. I’m not worried.

  4. It's not going to work with Igor. Once this teams opportunity is up, which will probably be this year what are you going to do with a 12.5-million-dollar goalie that you can't afford to build around.

  5. Rejecting 88 million is absolutely diabolical work do I think Igor is great goalie yes do I have the same fan favorite energy for him not to sure first of all 12 million will ruin the cap room let alone who’s gonna pay that in the nhl not Stanley cup contenders they have enough on their own plate so only teams that can pay that is maybe Philly Chicago if he wants to be on a team with a big payday

  6. 98% of the comments I've seen on a lot of different podcasts say screw him let him go, trade him, let him play out the season and if he wins a cup then pay him. I feel the same way.

  7. What a joke. Let him go, trade him…whatever. Selfish and greedy. Put the money towards two stout D men. The offer should not have been more than $9.5 million…$11 million??? NO WAY! I'm sure his teammates are shaking their heads, too.

This is a significant distraction from 2024-25 run.

  8. Igor is the best player on the team, Igor is the only reason the rangers have made it past the second round, give him whatever he wants or he's bringing a cup to another team

  9. TRAD EHIM COLORADO WON WITH KEUMPHER, AND THEN DID NOT RESIGN HIM… GOLDEN KNIGHTS WON WITH AIDAN HILL, WHO IS AVERAGE AT BEST… TRADE HIM …. WE DO NOT NEED HIM. BYE BYE..

  10. Any team that can afford to give him more than that or not going to be able to afford to build a contender around him so is he just looking for the biggest payday and doesn't care about the cup because that's what it seems like to me if he goes somewhere else for 12 and a half million say and he didn't stay with New York for 8 years 88 million then I have to believe he's being super selfish. Anything he gets is going to set up generations to come of his family. Like people he'll never even meet will be well off

  11. Let's call it what it is no matter what the Rangers pay Igor he will never be the greatest goalie to wear a Rangers sweater unless he wins a cup. He might understand that reality and want to go somewhere where he's going to be the greatest goalie that franchise ever had. Who knows we're all speculating because we're not in Igor's head and it is what it is. But him holding out unless he has a vezina year then he might have made the wrong bet.

  12. Let him walk. Rangers didn't win with him in net. Paying him another $5.3 million isn't going to change anything. Trade him for some offensive firepower. If VGK can win with Hill and EDM can go 7 games with Skinner, then Domingue and Quick can carry the Rangers.

  13. I don't have a good feeling about this season starting out…the greedy one in goal and problem child on defense! Hopefully as the long season progresses things will smooth out.

  14. If the Rangers actually had the talent to win anything without him I’d say to move on and use the money elsewhere. The problem is that the top end talent the rangers need is basically only attainable in the draft, so people just saying to go get a top line center are delusional.

  15. He honestly lost any respect. Hockey was a sport where players loved the game and respected the cup and appreciated the sport and the organization that makes them. He just wants money and the good life. Has no respect, appreciate or love for the game, league and cup. Get rid of him, that’s not ranger mentality. Hank and richter respected and emotionally invested in the team. 👋

  16. So you want to just let him walk away for nothing?
If had won a few championships yeah pay that, but he hasn’t. Trade him now while he still has value. They won’t be able to get anything for him when the season ends. Trade him now for some offensive talent.

Since we probably won’t win the championship maybe we hope he has a very bad season. And we are out of contention at the deadline and we can get rid of him

  17. He not only would be overpaid, but would also be hurting the team in preventing them to spend on others. It's basically a pie and the bigger cut out of it leaves less for others.

    I say let him walk.

in my 47 years of watching this club, the one area that we've always have been stronger than most teams is that we almost always have been fortunate betweeen the pipes!

It's crazy but in all my years, there was almost always a real good goalie – JD, Mio, Hanlon, Beezer, Froese, Richter, Hank, Talbot, Shesty etc.. I think there was only 1 year where I felt like we were truly inadequate in net and that was Doug Soetart.. In his defense I think he was already over the hill and was banged up. I also think it was his 2nd stint, to give a better example lol.

  18. Have fun playing somewhere else Igor making $13 million a year and not winning anything because you are taking up all that cap space.

  19. I love Igor but yes he’s being selfish. How much more does he want? 12-13? Any contending team he goes to (even if it’s the rangers) he’s gonna handicap they’re salary cap situation by demanding that much of the cap.
