As a player, she’s an absolute all-time great and a legend. Would like to see her (or any Habs’ coach) gain some coaching experience at the AHL level at least before going behind the NHL bench. That said, it’s not like MSL had any experience before becoming head coach, and she is currently in a consulting role with the team, so it’s not crazy to think she could step in as an assistant.
Should also think about Kori Chevarie and Caroline Oullette, they’re as qualified as anyone else I can think of.
Let’s not fall in this PR trap, let’s just the most qualified person, man, woman, trans who cares
The greatest coach of them all, Scotty Bowman, never made it past junior.
I don’t mind as long as she’s a good trainer. I don’t see why we should be hype for it. If she competent, then she can have the job. Being a woman has nothing to do with her competence as coach. And not all player are good coach too.
I recall a year or two ago when Captain Clutch got hired as a part time development coach with the Habs.
She said her priority was her career and the PWHL ( Go Victoire Go! ) and once her career would come to an end, working full time for the Habs would be a dream for her.
I don’t know if coach behind the bench would be an option for her but definitely MTL might be interested to bring her full time.
