At the airport rdy to fly home. Man what a stinker. Pace needs to pick up a ton in practice. Whole team was lac luster to say the least. Bright spot of the trip. Got to meet Patrick!! I jokingly asked Lavoie to get me in the room. He replied “dude I can’t even get in the room” 😅
Pathetic start again but it’s one game. The Jets are also a good team that was ready to play. Second line is still learning to play together and will either gel or get tweaked. I expect a better performance from the entire team on Saturday. Thanks for the update
You trade away half the team that got you to 1 goal from the stanley cup, what do you expect? All the high speed is gone, foegle, holloway, mcleod, no new goalie, skinner being skinner again. Paying drai and mcd the big money, but what did they do last nigh? 14 mil? I would have kept everybody and got the best goalie I could get. This management is a disaster. F*ck cap space, they could have made it work. Lucky to make the playoffs this year.
Lost 5 players from last year. Replaced them with a few players who have little to no experience at the NHL level and 1 guy who might be able to play now. Stuck with a AHL Goalie since they ran a much better goalie (Koskinen) out of town. A Defense that rates about 30th at best (As of now). Contracts coming up that they cannot begin to afford. so without fantastic GM'ing, their shot was a 1 off and it was last year. Go ahead, Tell me I'm wrong.

Hard to believe, they could look so awkward. No defence, no offence, no discipline, poor puck movement, poor puck control… no sustained effort! Did this crew really practise in the preseason? Coaching has to get these guys playing every shift like it means something.
Hi Patrick from Germany. I saw the game starting here at 4am, and I stopped it after the second period, because I was totally shocked!!! The team isn't fit in anything!! No power, no speed, no will, no stick control, no positioning, no passing, absolutely unfit!! As I was a pro in my sport, this was a no go!!! You can't do that. Stadion was full of fans, they paid for that, it was live on air all over the world, what a shame. This is unprofessional Patrick, sorry to say that! A total disaster for the franchise! You wanna go for the cup with these, never ever!!! I am really angry, not wearing up do early, I did it last season also, but for hole Canada. The officials had such big words in the past, nothing counts only the cup, the players too, and than such a performance???!!! I was speechless in front of the TV, believe me. I saw the Panthers, the flames, bruins, Canadians too, in that performance no way to win. We are on the Penguins level, 0:6!!! What have they done in summer???? My trainers said to me "Second is first looser!" , so what are they talking about???
Beard isn't a real opponent, the jets are. Canucks are, Flames and Canadians too, and we are far away from being an opponent of them yet… . Cheers to everybody and sorry for my feelings, but they shocked me hard with this performance.
Oilers do need another top 4 puck moving Dman to play with Nurse. Yesterday we struggled to get moving from defence to offence. Seems like only Bouch (who didnt have a good game) and Ekholm can actually move and paas the puck. #rd line was good, 2nd line will take few games to gell together.

I kinda saw this coming. The 3rd and 4th lines played fine although Podkolzin lost his man which resulted in a goal. Skinner stunk up the place after making his first few stops. The D were discombobulated, and the top 2 lines lacked chemistry and urgency. I'm glad I didn't buy tickets or drove downtown to watch this game!
Well…not going to judge the boys after 1 game. Everybody needs to do better, very uninspiring game. LETS GO OILERS !!!

Here we are 8 games after training camp and the “best team” in the league puts an effort like that. My initial thoughts on that is that was a pathetic showing, very first game, on home ice, with the best team. I heard you say Patrick that you expect a better effort. Did you expect one when you spent your hard earned money to watch that game? How brutal should the players feel after that game? First game or the last game, every opponent is going to play their best against the Oilers. Why shouldn’t they? Earn your millions players.
