All I keep hearing about is “improving defensively” when there was no actual improvement made to the D core. Walman was easily better than Holl, Petry, Chiarot, and now you can add Gustaffson to that mix.
New D man Gus looked absolutely horrendous back there. Very good on PP tho. Sadly Edvinsson had a ruff game. But we’ll bounce back!
Can’t remember the last time it took til the next day to upload the pressers. The organization knows how embarrassing this outing was.
This team doesn’t have a chance to make the playoffs one game or not defense wins the game and the wings other than Seider are beyond weak in that area. Going to be a long season for red wings fans

I know Edvinsson played bad last night, But if Petry is hurt, you have to move Edvinsson to line 1 with seider and let Johansson be on the second line with Chiarot. Running Johansson and Ed on the same line would be attrocius and It would be good for Edvinsson to give him top minutes

Trade bergren & veleno for a top 4 D man. Buy copp out and bring danielson & kasper up. This team is not making the playoffs this year so its better if both of our top prospects play in the nhl so we cankeep close tabs on them.
In my attempt to be rational and avoid over-negativity, I must concede, that was a bad bad bad home opener.
D looks brutal, and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Communication seemed awful out there. So many players over skating passes because they didn’t see it coming and missed defensive assignments causing breakdowns. Hopefully this can be ironed out quick because the talent is there for this team.
Only one game, but that defense needs to get shored up real quick. We weren't tough or physical at all, and our D let the Pens skate right around them.
Last night looked really bad folks…. Same old defensive breakdowns/coverage leading to crucial errors. Husso didn’t do what decent goalies usually do, stop most low threat shots… those were some soft goals. Please, you guys can’t tell me you didn’t at least improve a TINY bit right? I am VERY tired and over this egghead coach…. Truly. I hope to see something completely different next game. Cmon boys!

A bad start isn't the end of the world. It will put pressure on Stevie to finally make a coaching change which should have done last year. Copp getting about the same ice time as Kane is unacceptable.They looked like they did in the losing streak last year: No energy, giveaways, poor goaltending and lack of work ethic. Kasper should be up and they need to buy out Copp's contract.
Ed is cooked if this is his mentoring D group.

I know it is only the first game, but they seem to make the same mistakes as they did last year. you here all the same excuses from Larkin and everyone else on the team and Lalonde but they never do anything to correct the mistakes they always say the same stuff over and over in every post-game interview when they lose.

We seemed to be playing without any heart. You have to wonder about whether the loss of Walman, Perron, Fabbri, and Gostisbehere has gutted this team of their grit.
How is this team maxed out with their Salary cap with guys like Chiarot,Petry in your top 4 and Compher who can barely win a draw as your 2C? Can't blame Holland forever. Yzerman has a few really bad contracts. Not only are they bad contracts but theyre keeping young guys off the roster.
As an ex goalie, I am hoping that we never have to see Husso red wings net again.
Obviously we have the ability to play like world beaters, when
playing at our best. See first half of the first period. But when
we backed off… We really sucked last night as a whole ! That being said however, .the first half of the first period was shockingly better than I even thought we ccould play ; and the power play looks quite sharp and impressive as well . Unfortunately, almost everything else = disappointing….."LAST" night. The reboot is on Saturday . We'll see ….Go Wings, it's just one game there are 80 something more. DIG IN !
The most obvious thing that I noticed in the entire first game.Aside from how crappy the defensive portion of the play was, It's weird, literally 0 hits on the fore.Track and I didn't see any big hits into the boards by virtually any of our demon all game .
Chiarot , Seider, and Edvinson need to be crushing guys (they are all really big) ; and l the very large Rasmussen and Mott, Copp and Fisher need to forcheck way harder and finish there checks . Both offensively and defensively , and that means physically hitting the guy , not just a stick check. I thought you were pissed about last year. Take no prissoners needs to be the motto each game. WTH- get angry !
