Mailloux > Barron, that’s no contest. He has Barron’s offensive skills, also Barron’s defensive problems, but he’s also bigger and plays physically, which we (or any team) really needs.
If Mailloux keeps up anything like this pace in the AHL, it’s going to force management to cut bait on Barron and trade him at low value, unfortunately. He can still become a good player (22 is very young for defenceman) but Mailloux and Reinbacher will force him out in short order.
Put the Lehkonen trade in Hughes’s “L” column unfortunately.
