Mark Friedman can be a steady option for third-pair until we can find a better option. Brannstrom too if he gets some conditioning in Abby.

Arguably I'm just coping, but I would rather struggle in the first half of the season then second. Lets lose and learn now so when second half of the season and playoffs roll around we're ready, unlike last year.

As for EP40, expectations rise with the contract. I'd be satisfied if he gave us years of 80-90 pt seasons, and was great 2-way. I wish he was harder to play against. But I think there's still a good chance he can be that.
I do believe there is still a trade window open with him, though. That fact, and a bit of a slow start, could add fuel to an unhappy fire. The haters are gonna step it up.

A big difference between this team and others is that I have faith in the coaching staff. There will be losses to bad teams and to good ones. Tocchet and the boys can and will adjust. Additionally, JT Miller is now my new favorite player on the Canucks.

If they can get up and stay up for the full 60 mins they are super dominant but their issue is always playing not lose with the lead. It is a collective on ice leadership issue.
Re: third pairing. Not sure how many teams have solid third pairings for only $3.5M.
Re: Petey's vs McDavid's salary: I don't think you can compare contract numbers signed 6 years ago vs this year. It's apples to oranges. A McDavid contract starting this year would be way over Pettersson's new contract.
I don’t think this reflects the team as how their season will go, we went up by four, stepped off the petal and Calgary got a few lucky bounces that landed their way, and when those bounces went in we were to late to punch back. We got complacent, not unskilled or undetermined. The flames played periods 2 and 3 excellently and good for them but I feel there is a lot of overreaction to this game
unfortunately the nucks have taken for granted some previously very good bottom 6 d men. stecher shouldve never been let go same goes for people like luke schenn imagine our bottom pair is schenn and stecher rn. would be the best team for all round depth in the entire league. coming from a canucks fan this is not something we can simply coast with till the playoffs. we need a fix and we need it soon. trade a pick and a lesser prospect for someone good NOW
No goalie is perfect. Some let point blanks in, some let five hole, some weak on blocker side, some weak top shelf, some have issues moving laterally. You cant have it all
Canucks have no problems at all. It's the first game of the season.. it means absolutely nothing… look what Edmonton did last year.. they sucked at the beginning of the season and made it all away to the Stanley Cup Final…
