i watched the first period and a half , thought the team looked good, what happened?

I don’t know who is running PP1 but they need to stop or let someone else the reins because it’s not workinggggggg

  3. Most of the new guys are being put in spots they don’t belong.

    Hoglander – Miller – Boeser

    Debrusk – Pettersson- Garland

    Heinen – Raty – Sherwood

Suter – Blueger – Sprong (give this guy four defensively sound players to cover his ass.)

I don’t want to touch our defense since it’s just hot trash this year.

  4. Watching the game live last night, it was a bit of a dull game. They didn’t do much to get the crowd in the game. Neither team really asserted themselves or got into the trenches.

Feel like I didn’t see a scrum until the 3rd period.

Was at the game and had a great time despite the loss. I’m honestly not concerned. This team is an unfinished product considering injuries to key players, guys like JT still shaking the rust off, a considerable amount of new players, and shifting to a slightly different game plan/play style from last year. These guys need to build some chemistry and get the system down.

This annoying guy sitting behind us was ragging on Petey all game. My gut feeling is that things will “click” again for Petey at some point this season and all the downers will be eating crow. Might not happen as fast as people would like but I’m very certain of it. I’m not usually a “glass half full” person so maybe that makes my opinion on this hold a bit more weight, I don’t know. I’m sure plenty of you will disagree with me.

To me it’s quite clear that they will need to / are planning on adding at least one more high profile, high impact player (probably on defense) before the TDL, and likely much earlier than that.

They played a decent game against an October Torts team. Lack of finishing bit them in the ass. Lankinen was really good and the crowd at Rogers was loving him. I’m very happy they went out and got him.

Flyers have got some really speedy players though, holy shit. Guys like Boeser look really slow compared to some of them lol. Didn’t notice Luchanko too much. Michkov’s hockey IQ is pretty unreal and it was fun to be at his debut NHL game. Ersson made some great saves, most notably a super impressive glove save. Not sure if he’s “star goalie” material but I think he’s very talented and can definitely be a solid #1 goalie for them if his development stays on this trajectory.

Look, I think the petey hate is ridiculous. He’s a skilled player and you see flashes of his brilliance every game. BUT he is the 5th highest paid player in the league. He absolutely does have to produce and play better, and he absolutely deserves criticism if he doesn’t perform at his cap hit. That being said, a lot of the hate he receives every night tends to go a little overboard

2 games in and the defense is looking brutal. During the intermission they said the Canucks got a ton of depth in forward and D during the offseason. I almost burst out laughing, forward yes but defence hell no. What depth?

Myers being out will screw us bcuz management didn’t prioritize defence. I compare this failure to when new jersey went from a playoff team to a non playoff team last year bcuz their defence wasn’t prioritized (and in their case their goalies weren’t good either). Hopefully canucks recognize this during next off season and stack our defence.

Also, not sure why sprong was benched. He back checked and finished his checks. In a game where u need offense he shouldn’t have been benched. Also, Heinen has been a massive disappointment, guys has the finishing ability of mikheyev. Hoglander looked like a beast last night creating plays and retrieving pucks on the forecheck. Canucks need to blend the lines and do something like:

    Hoglander – Miller – Boeser

    Debrusk – Petey – Sprong

    Suter – Bluegar – Garland

    Heinen – Raty – Sherwood

That lineup is built to ppls strengths and their performances so far.

Also, on the plus side lankinen was a beast yesterday.
