Matthews can score on a lot of goals, sure… But I don't think he's a good leader in the locker room… There's a big difference between being a good player and being a good leader.
They are 1 Stolarz injury away from this season going off the rails /They should wrap him in bubble wrap after every game IF STolarz does get hurt /craps the bed ,they will have no choice but to safrifice a 1st round pick and or Minten and go make a trade for a ( durable) #1 Goalie .I guess they could try Matt Murray and see how long he lasts

I wish Auston would take some elocution lessons. All of his ahhhs and uhmms do not make him sound like a Captain. I know he is laid back, but there is a way to speak to the media and I don’t think he has it. Johnny was better at speaking to the media and I am not saying Johnny was a better Captain, but Auston could benefit from learning how to speak to the media and fan base on socials. I think it would serve him very well. He also has been scoreless for the first time ever in his career with the Leafs in the first two season opening games. I hope his luck improves tonight. The new system so far has been so fun to watch, it feels like real hockey again. not some robotic, Corporate style of hockey keefe coaches. Keefe's style was so frustrating to watch as a viewer, it wasn't what you expect from high level hockey.
Keefe would do well in minor league, but NHL systems are way more dynamic than what he is able to produce.
