[Joshua Kloke] Artur Akhtyamov a arrêté 37 des 38 tirs à ses débuts dans la AHL. C’est encore tôt, mais la profondeur des gardiens des Leafs semble être à son meilleur niveau depuis des années.

I don’t remember the Leafs ever having even two goalies I trusted at the same time. Now it’s maybe 3 with more in the pipeline.

The future looks good.

Really highlights the value of throwing a mid/late round pick at a goalie just to see what happens. Looking forward to our most recent 5th round pick Timofei Obvintsev winning a Vezina in 8 years or so.
Hildeby and Akhtyamov were both 4th round picks and they’ve both given reasons for us to be really hopeful for their development

Artur is legit. By the time Woll has cooked Artur will be ready.

It’s nice and all but guys like Reimer/Sparks/bibeau/Scrivens/Rynnas/Kaskisuo/Kallgren/ etc really made me pessimistic about AHL success

Hopefully Like the days of Potvin and Rhodes coming up, and not Scrivens and Rynnas.

I remember we had Raycroft, Toskala and Gustavsson back-to-back-to-back for upto 3 seasons each while waiting for Pogge to save us. It was like 6-7 years of just piss poor goaltending.
We also kept trading for goaltenders because we didn’t want to put in the effort of developing a guy beyond 1 season. We got lucky on a whim that Reimer matched our playstyle of giving up 45 shots a night. And even then the organization didn’t want to develop goalies while the franchise had an established guy. This really wasn’t sustainable at all.
Lou Lamoriello bought the organization time when he got Andersen to actually start developing goalies. We also stopped spending an arm and leg to acquire ones too.
Such poor management for so many years, we couldn’t open a window for the team around Kessel because player development was thrown out of the window for a shiny new expensive toy.

I was at the game. He was great. Really felt like he stole the game for the Marlies. Moves really well.
Greb played pretty physical but looked like he’s still getting used to the smaller ice.

I was at the game. Despite the number of shots, it really didn’t feel like Artur was on his game (very scrambly and definitely not a great puck handler). That being said, if this is how he performs then hot damn do the Leafs have a prospect.
