Ok I get that they’re trying to show they got his back but christ, give Annunen a run and allow Georgie to see the ice somewhat..

Justus needs to show a lot more to get regular starts.

I don’t want to hear about « coming in cold » – he is supposed to be out full-time backup this season. « Coming in cold » is a core part of his job as a backup goalie and he has failed miserably at that job twice.

Both of our goalies are playing like ass so expect Georgie to get most of the starts until someone takes the job from him

Can Annunen at least share the crease during warm ups so he’s not ice cold this time?

  4. Thanks for sucking up the downvotes to be the bearer of bad news

2 games I’ll give him a pass. 3 games I’ll start to worry. If it goes beyond 3 I’ll be ready to smash the panic button.

You risk the potential of legitimately breaking his psyche with this start. Not really any choice tbh, he’s either gonna come out of it or not this season.

But if he bombs again like the last two games, that’s a pretty big hole to come out of. He seems like a pretty emotional person based on how he reacts to things, hope he pulls through.

Imo I think it was the boring pad set he came out with this year lol. I’d like to see an Avs goalie with some swagger as Roy had back in the day

It’s only game three, and it’s better to know if the situation can be salvaged sooner rather than later. That said, this team needs a win soon, and that won’t happen with .680 sv%.

Just for fuck sake can we see a .900 save percentage at some point here. I’ll even take a period of .900. A single period

I’m not sure what the solution is but we need to get it sorted. We’re wasting away some prime time years here.

  10. C’mon Georgie!!! Run it back man we need you at your best, time to turn over a new leaf

  11. Don’t worry boys kaapo kahkonen is on his way and will be our season savior! All we need is league average from our tendy and kappo can absolutely provide that maybe better.

Thinking of the Islanders’ happiness right now 😒

  13. Yeah I was hoping for a change, but I get wanting to give him his chances early. Gives us more time to figure something out if he’s not going to dial in. We can’t keep seeing the same as his last 2 performances, though. Something’s gotta give sooner or later

So what are the odds all those goalies we drafted are ready to play? /s

If Georgie is gonna work out his demons, better now than later.

T-minus 2 days until Hurricane Kähkönen makes landfall in Boston

My rule with him would be that if he lets a goal in on the first five shots he’s done

  18. Guys idk why this is news, obviously Georgie is the starter, and Annunen is the closer. Hell Kappo might end up being the middle guy we got 3 goalies for 3 periods it’s perfect

  19. That third goalie with the funny name, believe it is Empty Net, allowed fewest goals last two games, start him!

From the fans’ point of view (us), he looked like he struggled in the playoffs and now, 5 months later since the playoffs, he’s had 2 poor showings.

That means we, who are not in the organization have only seen his most recent, poor performances.

But what we’re not seeing is those 5 months of preparing, practicing, and all the other stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Add in two bad games – and they were bad; I’m not kidding myself here – and it’s been 5 months of off-season and 2 bad games.

So I still think it’s fair to chalk it up to two bad games. It just sucks from our point of view since we’ve been living with this since his decline in the playoffs last season.

But if we want to be fair, it’s only 2 games into the season. We can’t hold last season’s conclusion over him just yet. Let’s stick with him and let him work it out.

And if the poor play continues, then we can reassess. But we are really just 2 games into the season and even great goalies have a bad stretch – it’s just unfortunate that his has come at the start of the season.

So I’m still in his camp, but he does need to shake off the rust and show us he’s capable of turning things around.
