    For anyone who needs conversion rates, the currency table in D&D 5th edition states that 500 gold pieces is equivalent to 50 platinum pieces, 5000 silver pieces, and 50,000 copper pieces. Nobody in their right mind uses electrum.

    500gp weighs about ten pounds, unless you’re ignoring coin weight for encumbrance rules (which is common practice for many campaigns).
