I don’t think it was ever realistic to expect the Flames to be a bottom 5 team. Conroy said they were going to remain competitive and I interpreted that as finishing around 23rd in the NHL.

Tf2 and Flames crossover is something I didn’t know I needed til I saw this

We had a five game win streak last year. Let’s hold off on planning any parades.

The Best rebuilding team in the West 🔥

    Correct

Now it’s « hope Conroy doesn’t do what was done in 2014-2015 and not hard commit.

I’m ngl, while it is nice, such a wonderful start, hard working players, and culture wise it’s great. I’m just really worried we’ll just be back in the same spot as 5 years ago, a star player like Tkachuk, two underperformers like Monahan and Gaudreau, and a D core like Gio who allows goals in the final 5 minutes of the game >constantly<

Just hard not to look at drafts and know we’ll be missing out on possible superstars, and knowing that without them we will probably struggle. The last Stanley Cup winning team that had an older average age than our current squad was the 2007-2008 Red Wings. Only super good position we have prospect wise is Goalie because of Wolf, also because of Goalies tending to peak later in their careers.

I hope Conroy can change it man. I really do. But it does feel like this was a moment to tank that could have really benefitted our long term potential. Maybe this draft class will end up with multiple stars, definitely will have a few NHLers, but what we need is Stars. Maybe Vegas completely prolapses next season so we can get their unprotected pick. But ah.

I’m on team tank but I’m not gonna be pissed that this team is winning. I’m still a fan. Is it better long term. Sure. But if this team wants to go on a run awesome

I’m no ‘Team Tank’ but you meming fuckers love tempting the fates

I don’t know. I’m on team rebuild but I also like watching exciting hockey, so I’m not worried at all

I think it’s because for once there’s absolutely no expectations. If they tank and fail.. well that’s what everyone was expecting across the league. So absolutely no pressure which makes it easier for them.
