I didn’t love the contract Dubas gave Jarry, but I never in a million years thought it would end up being this bad.

I know the cap relief would be marginal, but when Ned is healthy I’d seriously consider putting him on waivers and seeing if he can get it together in the AHL.

Spitting facts so early in the morning, where’s the popcorn 🍿

  3. Jeff_Banks_Monkey

The way the feel of the game switched after Blom came in and made that first big save really sold me on Jarry just not being the guy anymore

  4. resumethegloom

Josh Yohe does make it seem like he fucking hates Jarry, which is pretty *unprofessional* if you ask me.

That being said, something is going on with Jarry and playing him (in the NHL) isn’t the answer

  5. Man – the knock on him used to be that he was a good goalie but didn’t make the timely or clutch saves. Now he just sucks…

  6. MrTwatFart

DK’s daily shot was a much larger take down. Great podcast today.

  7. BBQBEERNBLADES

Nothing unprofessional about telling the truth.

  8. I’d put the defense as No. 1 issue on the list. Pens have other goalies they can start. Their entire defensive unit doesn’t even play defense for most of the game.

  9. EmiliusReturns

I’m hoping some desperate team with even worse goaltending might take him and take the chance that he’ll do better with a change of scenery. Though I would be shocked if we didn’t have to retain salary.

I’d rather they find a trade for him and eat part of his salary than eat his entire/almost entire salary while he rides the bench or goes to WBS. The relief we’d get by sending him down is pretty minimal, no?

  10. Substantial_Leek_355

This is all setting up to be the next Scuderi-Daley trade. We’ll send Graves and Jarry to a loony GM for some guy we’ve all barely seen and win the cup. Calling it now

Joshe Yohe talks about Tristan Jarry as if we are supposed to be some elite and dominant team this season and that Tristan is the one that’s fucking it all up for us. What a fucking muffin.

  12. Fans often quickly go to goalie bashing when a team struggles… Usually with the Penguins, as was the case last night, there are some pretty bad defensive breakdowns that allow great scoring chances.

But some times from your #1 goalie, you need a save. Jarry hasn’t done that and hasn’t played well. In each of his past 8 games he’s had a sub .900 save%.

A leaky goalie not only amplifies other problems, but creates them as well. We saw that with Fleury in some of those bad seasons/playoffs. A couple go in, and the team just deflates.

Unfortunately, only real answer here is to hope he plays through it a bit. You can send him down for a few games, but I’m not sure if that helps and could wreck his mental state even more.

I’m sorry kinda new to ice hockey isn’t a .867 good because it sounds like a high save percentage

  14. ForeignWerewolf

Jarry has the Yips it seems. He’s always been streaky, but he seems like he’s heading down Jack Campbell territory

  15. Excellent_Hockey_149

I was just saying on Twitter that it was paining me to say that I’m open to them parting ways with him. He really has regressed.

Love the guy, but it’s time to move from him

How many did they score in the loses? & how many brutal defensive mistakes, turnovers, odd man rushes, breakaways, people left wide open 5-10 ft from the net, how poor was puck management? That’s what happened last night too. Yes he’s AlLoWeD tO mAkE a SaVe, but why isn’t the team in front of him allowed to play the right way & improve on the things i mentioned instead of not caring like 58&65. When is it on Sullivan? Different roster players from yr to yr, different goalies, different blue line & yet the same terrible habits. You can find a better goalie than Jarry..great but it’s not solving or at least addressing the real issues. I think Jarry just has a shitty attitude & is sick & tired of watching the trash play in front of him & him being the scapegoat(for the most part) for the goals against & losses.

  17. Ok_Card9080

A #1 goalie should never, ever require 5 goals to win. That’s just inexcusable. I’m definitely in favor of giving the Ned/Blomqvist pairing a look, because Jarry either needs to be sent to WBS for a conditioning stint, or it’s time to move on.

  18. Clarctos67

As others have said, the problem is how streaky he is.

Not just a problem when he’s in a bad streak like now, but the quality of the good streaks means that I fear the management will keep trying to run him, hoping he flips into form. Usually, that may make sense, but this is just such a broken situation now that it affects the whole team.

Jarry is one of those who has the potential ceiling of carrying a team through a playoff run. The problem is that his floor includes long, long spells which are so bad you don’t make the post season. That’s simply not sustainable and so he cannot stick around. As I say, my fear is that the management will be too blinded by the potential upside that exists only in the hypothetical.

  19. The problem is if we try to buyout his contract, it will screw us for the next 4/5 years. Terrible contract drawn up by Dubas for 2 players who haven’t done so well…

  20. BigBarsRedditBox

Jarry isn’t an NHL goalie. Been saying it since last year. Feel really good that I’ve been vindicated.

  21. anon727813

I feel bad for him. The guy had (and could possibly still have) a lot of potential. I know he feels like shit right now and I just feel bad for him. When Dubas signed him, I thought it was a good deal for him and the Pens. Unfortunately he’s lost his way and his time is just about up to do something about it
