1. Yes Poitras should be 2nd. Coyle is great defensively but he’s a 3rd C. Elias lindholm is arguable a second line C as well. We’re still missing our 1C

  2. Charlie had a great season last year. He is still a valuable center for the Bruins. Give Charlie some time, he fits in on 2nd or 3rd line, maybe he’s not fully healthy. Geekie isn’t helping him either.

  3. I was going to give Coyle 10 games before I brought it up. Give him the benefit of the doubt. You know my answer. The player who facilitated that line last season is no longer there.

  4. There is no reason in this universe why Morgan Geekie should be playing on the top six of any NHL team and we’ve known for his entire career that Coyle is an excellent third liner, a Stanley Cup level third liner even….. just not good enough to run a line above that. Last year was the exception and not the rule. This team cannot hide from how starved they are for a top six winger and whether it’s Lysell or whether they have to make a trade I don’t care. Moving Poitras up is certainly the correct move to start….not sure who they think is going to score the goals this year because it isn’t always going to be Mark Kastelic lol. They can survive for a while, but it WILL bite them

  5. Funny talking point here: Debrusk is a super replaceable player, but you can’t replace him with nobody. That’s the one thing you can’t do. 😂what a lot of fans didn’t realize was how important he was to the overall scoring spread of the Bruins. He was basically the liaison between the guys who absolutely MUST score pretty much every night (Pastrnak) and the ones who you don’t even really count on to score, but may chip in once every four or five games (Frederic, Geekie etc)…..there are VERY few guys you can COUNT on to pot 20 goals and pretty much none if you really want to split hairs. That’s a huge elephant in the room. Massive. Even Johnson would be a suitable Band-Aid there, but they can’t sign him and I believe Lysell has the ceiling to be better than JD and way better than Geekie but they seem to hate him and not want to let him play hockey with an NHL linemate so I guess we’ll see. I’m not trying to overreact, but I see some common themes that I already had a problem with

  6. Yes, of course try Poitras. I expect Monty will likely do that at some point.

what I noticed about Coyle last season was his face off percentage spiked way up Right out of the gate. Seems like he got skills coaching from Patrice Bergeron the way his face off stance looked from the previous season.

( I still think that morning Patrice Bergeron was caught at the rink claiming he was picking up hockey sticks? I still say he was helping Charlie and Pavel with face offs! Picking up hockey sticks at the crack of Dawn? Yeah right!)

And there was a trend through November that when he won over 50% of his face offs, we won 90% of those games.

He remained top 25 NHL for face offs for several months.

Charlie went through issues with his knee shortly after he came to Boston, he went through surgery one summer so he couldn't train very hard, he stated that summer of 2023 was the first season he had been able to train hard in a few years because of that knee

But we didn't learn about that, nobody said anything until late last winter!?
    – he BARELY mentioned it in a locker room interview, yet reporters did not pick up on it?
    – I listened to it twice to make sure I got it right.

So I hope we're not looking at knee problems again with Charlie. That's what's held him back.

I still value him higher as a 3C. That's a very difficult position, having to expect anybody as your opponent

and I think he excels there even though it looks like an insult to his skills dropping him down to 3C.
I liked him in that mismatched position.

I don't know enough about geeky – I hear his name called constantly so he doesn't seem like a puck watcher

I liked Justin brazeau the minute he stepped on NHL ice. it was a Dallas game, he scored his first game. I'm pretty sure he was working with Freddy… I don't know how he's stayed under the radar, but I was hoping we weren't playing him to get him NHL value for the trading block. I like him. He's a keeper!

Feels like we're still in training camp

This is the beginning of the season for me, put games on my calendar starting with this West Coast road trip

I still think there's too many babies at home! – They tend to do better on the road because they're more focused.

this is the beginning of the season that I'm interested in seeing the results. This is when it starts for me.

this is a lot of information you packed into a short video. Good stuff!

    Go B's!

  7. Our first line is solid. They will get points.
Move Poitras up for sure with Brazeau. Not as a punishment to Coyle or Geekie but I feel Coyle, Geekie and Fredrick would be a force of a 3rd line and possibly ignite them all.
4th line is solid so far. Beecher is playing like a beast.
Sign Johnson if at all possible. Hell of a utility player that can play any line plus powerplay and brings a TON of experience. Should have been signed already.

  8. Coyle has never done anything consistent to prove he’s top 6. I think he has the skill but not the drive or determination. Give Poitras a chance and hope for the best.

  9. sign johnson for goodness sake. he's going to be better than geekie. try poitras on the 2nd and coyle on the third where he can be very effective against other thirds.

  10. If Coyle is your #2 center, and Geekie is your #2 RW you've got serious depth problems. Coyle is a 3rd line center at best. We've seen it since he came to Bruins. He just isn't good enough to play in the top 6 consistently. The offense is going to be hard to come by this season, and the defense so far hasn't looked too good either.

  11. Great update.

Unpopular take: Realize he's coming off multiple surgeries, but Marchand's play has dropped off, starting last year. He used to be a point a game man, Im afraid those days are gone. I love his tenacity and spirit, but he's just not a top player any more. I hope he proves me wrong as the season progresses, but if I'm Sweeney, Im in no rush to offer anything but a team friendly contract at this time. By next season, Brad could be a bottom 6 guy.

  12. Two years ago when Monty kept an injured Ullmark in net while leaving a healthy Swayman on the bench, and put key players in the last few meaningless games of a record season, causing serious injuries to Bergeron, and performance hindering injuries to Pasta, Marchand, McAvoy and Hall, it was clear that this team will never win the cup with this kind of leadership. It blows my mind that he remains the coach. There must be something behind the scenes that we aren't privy to, because I have seen repeated incompetence from this staff. Why the fu*k is Geekie still on this team? Why is Jones here? We have so many other options. Poitras is truly incredible, he's a puck magnet, he's a gritty 110% player… but he's injury prone and he's going to get injured at any time now and he will be back on LTIR for large chunks of time. Coyle will be fine. He's hitting that ''30's wall'' when our bodies change and we have change our habits, and he will find his groove. Johnson should be on this team 100%.

  13. Coyle can carry ya in the playoffs I’ll give em some regular season rust for the what he brings when it really ‘matters’.

  14. Montgomery is joke putting Poitras with tufte and jones? Two bums that shouldn’t even be on the team
