I was expecting more from Kane and Tarasenko to start the season. Yes that goes for Debrincat as well. Would be nice to see Raymond break out.
Kane is at 1 point thru 4 games bc his teammates have been effing up every single setup. He gets apparently demoted back off the top line bc of DeBrincat playing horribly the first two periods last night. And now Kasper is called up and Kane doesn't even get him? The Compher Kane Tarasenko line got utterly demolished in game 1. It is a horrific line combo. Basically an opponent power play every shift. Kasper is better than Compher and certainly much better for old slow skilled Kane and Tarasenko.
I fully expect 88 to become a locker room problem w this latest move. There's only so much a legend can or should put up with from a glorified AHL coach.

Team is coasting bc they want Lalonde fired and they lost goal scoring and leadership with the loss of Perron and Ghost. Lalonde lost the room last year and should have been fired then. Pretty obvious to me. Make the change already.

I just think the roster for the defense should be much further along than it is at this point. Maata, Chiarot, Petry, and Holl are all plugs. They're not playoff plugs either. We had Walman and Ghost leave and it shows now more than ever. Chiarot drags Seider down, and it's horrendous with anyone else.
This team is in trouble. Yzerman has become the Russ Thomas of Detroit hockey. That, and he set his sights on shoring up the defense and the goalie situation, which he thinks he did. And if he did, what's the problem? Because the defense picked up right where they left off last season. Why??? It's not the players – it's Coach Lalonde again. I mean, did you see how this team played while short handed? Standard "box" defense with no movement. They looked like mannequins out there. If this team gets off to a record of 3 – 12 or worse, Derek Lalonde needs to be fired and Yzerman needs to hire a BONIFIED, tried & battle tested, NHL experienced head coach before this season is lost in its first month of play.
