@Flames de Calgary

1. All I know is that I feel for Buffalo…
They've been in a cycle of "We'll be good next year" for roughly 20 straight years at this point and seeing them once again having discussions of moving out big pieces is just sad.

  2. I think they need another winger to push Matt Coronado for his spot. Nick Robertson would be an interesting add to the Flames. He is faster and better skill.

  3. Depends on who the Flames give up. There's basically only Anderson and Weegar left that other teams would be interested in acquiring for a second line center.

  4. Might actually be a about making sure they're slightly worse in the short term but better in the long term, they need to finish bottom 10 to keep their 1st round draft pick.

  5. They need a middle 6 centre no matter what. Imagine what would happen if Backs or Kadri had a substantial injury. Just DO NOT go overpay for an over 30 vet.

  6. Addition by subtraction, I suspect Kadri and his contract would be part of the deal for a younger player that grow with the younger core.

  7. There's no harm in looking at what's there. As long as the pressure is low to actually pull the trigger, he might as well kick a few tires. The chemistry is already going to get shaken up when Sharangovich gets back from injury, so that's not really a concern, and the faceoff percentage has been a weak spot so far. I don't think Conroy's naïve enough to sell the future for an upgrade this year. Especially when a push for the playoffs this year would send our 1st overall pick to MTL.

  8. Reminder that Frank Seravalli is a clown, and has no real insider knowledge. Guy just spouts BS and people listen, for some ungodly reason.

  9. Trade in the works based on 4 regular season games to me is a little premature, depending on reasoning:

    – wins against VAN / EDM who started slow skew it

    – win against CHI / PHI to be somewhat expected (.500 and 1-2-1 teams)

Going 4-0-0 is a nice surprise.

If it's part of retool on the fly, that's okay. If it's part of a larger plan in the works since Conroy got in, that's okay.
If it's knee jerk due to 4-0-0, I'd wait a little longer.
Calling other GMs is part of the job, perhaps because Flames are doing well – that this is making a little more news than normal.

Some hot teams to start 23-24 didn't make playoffs, so hopefully everything is being considered.

  10. I'd love to see Cozens in a Flames Jersey. I think he could be a massive addition to the youth the Flames are trying to bring up.

  11. Im pretty sure he already said he already did all the heavy lifting and is looking to build stability

  12. Hamilton was totally worth the assets in that 2015 trade though. It was some of the other moves in that 2015-18 windows that were the problem.

I don’t mind them getting a young C now, but no big FAs or older acquisitions please.

  13. Even if you're hardcore on team rebuild and you think the team needs to tank at all costs, why would anyone get bent out of shape over what Frank Seravalli says?

  14. Frank Servali is an insider that knowingly spreads misinformation to get headlines. If you look at his “leaks” in hindsight you can find him making multiple false statements that he knew weren’t true.

  15. I love how people are surprised that Conroy is doing exactly what he told us he was going to do. He isnt going to sell of players for the sake of tanking the team, and if Flames want a #1 C like what Lindholm was, theyre going to have to trade for one.

Its why Ras is being talked about as trade bait, he could fetch us a #1 C.

  16. i agree this has been in the flames wishes for a while. craig is not an idiot he isnt gambling away the future to win now he is trying to fill an organizational need that has been known for a while. I think looking back 20 years from now craig will be looked at as one of our best GMs, hes hockey and business savy he is extremely friendly and likable while not becoming a pushover. I really think the best is yet to come with him at the GM position.

  17. It’s Conroy’s job to improve his team. He’s likely talking to capped out teams to see if anyone has a centre with a bad contract they want to get rid of. Flames would take the contract with a draft pick for futures or a depth player. 4-0 isn’t reason to go all in, they might be 4-6 by next weekend.
