  1. Defense sucks and has sucked for several years. What is the tech behind good defense play?! Why can other teams do it? If the players aren’t good enough it falls on Dubas. If the coaching is bad it falls on Sully. Either way, this team is in trouble and needs a serious rethink about many things. We are tired of the promises and disappointments!

  2. I mean , what GM wouldn’t sit back and look last seasons failures and say “ a pinch of Grzelyck should fix all this” then take the east of the summer off……

  3. Is Sullivan's system outdated? Maybe the team is too old and slow for it? Now, with that being said, maybe it is time for a boring defense 1st style.

  4. I have stated this time and time again, goaltending isn't the issue her e (and yes, jarry has played terrible). Defense is spare parts 100% , the doubling/tripling up and flooding one side with four players…. killing this team. Hockey IQ is apparently not a prerequisite to get on the squad. Honestly, time to part ways with sully and see what someone else can do with the team idk.

  5. DK, 100 percent correct. The forwards and defenseman are not playing well in their own end and it's costing them games. I like a lot of the things they did yesterday in the offensive zone, and I thought they deserved better than the result they got. However, when you can't defend you're going to lose 9 times out of 10.

I don't care if the Penguins had a prime Martin Brodeur or Patrick Roy, if they don't start playing well in your own end, you'll get results like this on a nightly basis.

  6. Idk how many more years I have to keep saying Sullivan's "scheme" or whatever you want to call it is cooked

  7. They might as well try a new coach and new system. But Letang and Karlsson have been dreadful through seven games, and if they are going to continue to play this bad, the rest doesn't matter.

  8. Dubas doesn't construct good D….as an aside…we have privileged to watch Crosby not really lose a step for most of his career. This year, he has lost a step. I dont' see him getting a points per game pace this year by year end, and he looks like this year will have a big drop in his play…I hope I am wrong..I'm a huge Sid fan…but it looks like this is the year for the drop off

  9. Dubas has brought in these D-men: Ryan Graves, Erik Karlsson, Matt Grzelyk, Filip Kral – non play well in their own end. Karlsson the big get has never been a winner, in fact his teams often are in the bottom 1/3 of the standings. Doesn't fall on one guy alone but something to consider as far as intangibles go. I think the bottom 6 has performed better than I thought they would although Hayes is still a very perimeter player, and the best of the bottom 6 have been guys who were here last year in Eller and O'Connor…but this D is not great.

  10. In Sullivans system when a defenseman pinches then a forward is supposed to take that spot right? I feel like i used to see this happen and now it just doesn't happen.

  11. Jets can roll 4 legitimate lines and have good goaltending. Penguins got beat by a better team. Deal with it.

  12. Aye thanks for talking some D. Hasnt this been the problem w. the Pens for a few years now? It has always been convenient to blame the goalie..At this point Jarry is several years into his NHL career and people are still trying to figure out if he is a good goalie….So what do the Pens do to improve their Defensive capabilities? Bring in Karlsson who doesnt play much D…everyone wants to score…not so many are interested in playing D. Maybe they should just not have any D men..Just roll 4 lines of forwards with Letang and Karlsson…bah..this is bad

  13. Welcome to the party DK. Sully is a great communicator but the data and eye tests are clear. He came in and unleashed a wagon of a team on the 1st cup run but by year 2 teams started to figure things out which is why they gutted (pdo bendered) their way to back to back. What has happened since? 3 gms have built good to decent teams and they have consistently just come up short. IMO that is because Sullys system requires everyone to simply play harder than everyone else and not make any mistakes. Great, but this is hockey; a game of mistakes and the other teams are allowed to play just as hard. Am I saying Sully is a bad coach? No… but have we won a single playoff series because of coaching since pre Bylsma? The Pens have won inspite of their systems not because of them. How many good players have been aquired that just diddn't fit and then move on and are fine again. The system isn't broken, it just basically never worked and the coach refuses or is incapable of changing it. That is why 3 gms and 120 players later we have the same issues

  14. Among professional leagues, the Stanley Cup is one of the most difficult trophies to win

Hockey is a difficult game both on the ice and on the bench.

LIfe has shown that those who start well may not finish victorious and on the contrary.

Team looks now okei, yesterday guys played well. Goalie was very good.Simple mistakes became
decisive, place selections and light 2min penalties.

To The team and to the coach staff must be given time to set up the plough and be a patience 🙂
