  1. Pretty simple to figure out losers. Your douche bag core, still ain't working. As my flames are winning,by winning battles. And bring the MEAT Simple fix

  2. 14:00 No. Matthews does not drive the line, has never drove the line, and never will drive a line. It's Marner, OR it's Domi. They are the players that make things happen. Matthews just 1. wins his one on one battles if they happen (good – it's why he gets Selke votes), 2. Float around and cheat for offense waiting for someone else to get him the puck so he can score (bad). He rarely covers for other teammates mistakes. It's why Marner looks bad. Marner will attempt a high risk play, where if it works, the viewer is like 'WOW look at that!' and when it doesn't, looks like an odd man break the other way, because Matthews is still just floating, hoping the defense turns the puck over and gets it to him (so he can be the hero and score the goal) instead of back checking like he's suppose to.

Not driving a line isn't a bad thing. Most goal scorers don't. Brett Hull needed Oates. Ovi needed Backstrom. All-Star Heatley needed Spezza. But you'll never see Matthews elevate other players games like Crosby or McDavid does. You can't give him scrub wingers and watch them explode into All-Stars. Marner will, and has (hello Bunting). He's the reason why Austin was scoring over 50. He's the reason why JT looked amazing in his first years here. It's why Marner is given a little more slack than Nylander, who has more of an I-don't-care attitude.

I am certain, you can probably put Kampf and Holmberg on Marner's line and they will be more productive than they've ever been. The same can't be said if you put them with Matthews.

  3. Living in Connecticut in the 80s I saw a good deal of games in Hartford, msg, nassau, and New Jersey. One playoff game in Montreal in 1984. Great trip with my dad and canadiens beat nordiques 2-1 and favourite player Guy Lafleur got an assist! Anyway. Sporadically following leafs cause they were a non threat in NHL in 80s just like Detroit. They were pretty good in the 90s and early 2000s, but now 5hey are supposed to be contenders. Of course I get my dosage of leafs news since I follow the league as closely as I did as a kid with magazines and newspapers, yet why hasn’t there been a change? Last year was DEFINITELY the very last chance the core got together if they failed again. Everyone said that. So what’s going on? As caps fan I am so enjoying it not being about th3 goals record only. It’s about going for the cup on the fly. Will Marner be traded?

  4. Mitch Marner does not drive his own line.

If Tavares wasn't there to do the scoring, Mitch wouldn't have picked up that slack during the 47 goal season.

He is an expensive player that REQUIRES you to have a finisher on the line, and also a grinder, because Mitch simply isn't going to do either of those things.

I can not trust him to be the spark when the team is down, I can't trust him to lead by example.

This player isn't worth his contract currently and he's expecting more?

  5. This is a scary idea but what if your lines look like this,

    Knies-Matthews-Domi
    Nylander-JT-Marner
    McMann-Holmberg-Nick. R
    Lorentz-Kampf-Reaves

  6. No matter how you blend this. Impossible to change this culture. JT is done. 89 is a child playing a man’s game. 44 thinks he’s better than he is. The pp wins games. They HAVE NOT CHANGED IT!!! Brutal watch after CBJ

  7. after our game against Dallas, i can very much say they will lose on Saturday against the leafs. We couldnt score on Casey DeSmith and our special teams is as abysmal as our 5on5

  8. I noticed that the Blues were excellent on the forecheck. The Leafs didn't really have an answer. They just kept pressure on the Leaf defense and the Leafs defence kept panicking and they were forced into fumbling the puck…… I hope the Bruins didn't pick up on that. The offense needs to be told that they need to come back and help the Defense. The top six is potent but it doesn't matter if the Defense is collapsing under regular pressure all game and letting up 4,5,6 or more again. Even the potent offense is hard pressed to score a touchdown a game.😕🤷‍♂️
