  1. Was really hoping Ej was gonna be available, Figured Ny would’ve taken him he fits perfect with their system.

  2. I'd like to hear what Brian Burke thinks of this pick as as well as passing up on the 23rd pick.

  3. I like the pick, he sounds, at least from what I read like a Chris Tanev clone, which is a good thing and what the Leafs need.

  4. The fact they mention he's the type to wear a letter sounds good to me! Leafs massively lack leaders who'll give you their left lung to win.

  5. Toronto should get rid of scouting staff if they kept the 23rd pick they could have got a 6ft7 center in letorneau what a joke

  6. I don't know anything about this kid because I don't watch much OHL hockey, but some of the specific short-comings on this kid from an article in the USA today concern me (soft around the net and hearing footsteps when retrieving pucks in the corner). Neither of those traits should be mentioned regarding a draft pick being considered as a potential future NHL D-man:

"Some in the scouting community love him, but we’re not big fans. Nondescript defenseman lacks a standout trait to hang his game on. Exhibits poise and patience in his own zone while defending and generally plays asteady, mistake-free game. Has good read and react skills and when he sees the opening, will attack the puck carrier. Has really good foot speed to carry the puck if needed. His footwork and lateral agilityis also a plus when defending against wide speed on the rush or in coverage on quick forwards down low. But he’s soft around his net and hears footsteps on retrievals in the corner. Makes crisp, accurate outlet passes when stationary, but can’t complete a pass when he’s moving."

    Projection is even more disheartening.

Projection: No. 7 defence man on the NHL/AHL shuttle.

  7. Leafs have Limited draft choices because Dubass traded away two first round draft picks because he wanted to make it past the 1st round. Every one left the leafs and two first round picks poorer without any compensation. Glad Wes Clark is doing such a good job but I gotta see them play in the nhl first.

  8. Just another small defenseman, who will disappear in the playoffs! WAKE UP Management!
