  1. Pasternak and Zacha are to inconsistent. Yes, they are a scoring threat, but they don't really show any effort. I wouldn't mind seeing them dealt or traded away. No more free Pasta! What a freakin joke that is.

  2. Evan nailed it!!

The Bruins only have two real Top 6 players in Pasta and Elias Lindholm and only Pasta is a true first line player. After that it's the middle six bunch of Marchand, Coyle, Frederic, Zacha Geekie and Brazzeau, most of whom are all bottom 6 guys continuing to be asked to play above their heads because this roster lacks high end forward talent

Joe said that they're only a Top 6 wing away but they still don't have a Top line LW, Brad Marchand is not a 1st line LW anymore. Elias Lindholm is a good 2c, he's not a 1C.

So the only first line player they have is Pasta

Coyle is not a Top 6 center or player no matter how many times Joe says he is.

Proof? Charlie Coyle in the post season when he has to play REAL Top 6 centers every shift

Coyle, last 3 post seasons combined: 27 games total:

1 lousy even strength goal, ONE!!!

    A crappy -7 for Mr. two-way

A craptastic 47% at the face-off dot for Mr. Face-off

Charlie Coyle is a 2c against Buffalo on a Tuesday night in November, however, when Coyle has to play against real Top 6 guys in high pressure, playoff situations, he's been a turd.

That's not an opinion, just look at what Mr. Top 6 Center Charlie Coyle has produced in his last 3 post seasons (27) games. Saying anything else except he's been crap in the playoffs would be a bold faced lie

Coyle, Frederic and Geekie all had career years last year as well. Did anyone think that this year more career years were coming or was it more safe to assume they'd be some kind of regression back to their norms?

Also, you can't even blame those guys too much because it's Don Sweeney's roster construction that is putting them in positions of having to deliver too often in elevated roles they really aren't set up to have success with long term in the first place

Lohrei, Zadorov and Hampus Lindholm also aren't very good defenders too often. Yes, they bring other positives to the table but as defenders, far too many mistakes, far too often

The Bruins have a talent problem. Can we stop acting like this is just a 10 games into the year kind of thing

The Bruins were one of the worst 5×5 teams in the NHL from last February onward

The Bruins were a .500 team from the start of February through May of last year

The Bruins are still one of the worst 5×5 teams in the NHL and they're what again, right around .500 to start this season

Sorry Bruins homers, the ship has been rotting from the inside out longer than just the opening ten games of this year

The Bruins aren't this bad and both the coaching and the players 100% need to be better and it's very reasonable to expect they will right the ship to some extent soon

However, this team is not a Cup winning one and it'd be beyond dumb to piss away more 1st and 2nd round draft picks trying to salvage a playoff berth that'll just lead to an early exit when what they really need to be doing is playing the kids and using their picks so they can fix that rotten farm system of theirs to improve on the ice or to use as assets to achieve the same goal

It may be time to sell off a few guys at that deadline and not add this year

The Bruins have failed to win more than one playoff round 8 of the last 9 years, the talent level on the roster is eroding more and more by the year not getting better, the farm system still stinks and they're still in Cap Jail

The roster is also still far too comprised of middle of the roster players, making far too much money who don't produce on the ice nearly enough for what they're being pad

How many more coaches does Sweeney get to fire? One more, two more, three more?

How many more playoff failures can Sweeney be at the helm at? Ten more?

How many more years can Sweeney spend to the Cap only to see the product on the ice not come anywhere near close to supporting the value of those contracts?

At some point Don Sweeney has to pay the price for his mistakes, right? At some point? Right?

Well run organizations in any sport also don't go firing through head coaches

When Montgomery gets the axe soon Sweeney will be moving onto to his third head coach in just five years, with an older roster that isn't getting any better that's also overpaid and a farm system that he's responsible for that is absolute trash

The Bruins have a talent problem at the big club level, a cap space problem at the big club level and a crap farm system at the organizational level and let;s not mention the coaching hasn't looked all that great either recently

Seems like only one guy is responsible for all of that, but I know Bruins homers, none of it is Don Sweeney's fault. Alines, it's alines that are making Don Sweeney do these things

One more note, I'm 100% with Mark

Call Anaheim and trade Trent Frederic to them for Frank Vatrano ASAP. Frederic is beyond overrated, the so called physical part of his game is non-existent these days, he's a limited offensive guy and he also vanishes every friggin post season. Move Frederic now before Don Sweeney gives him a four year deal, at a 5.5.M AAV with a full no trade clause

  3. The team lacks talent. It's really that simple. One top line player, Pasta. Three second line players, Marchand, Lindholm and Zacha. The rest of the team are third and fourth liners. There has been a steady erosion of talent since Sweeney took over. Quality players have left and they've generally been replaced with lower quality players. Sweeney has been signing an inordinate amount of US college players. That is not a recipe for success.

I know this will hurt Evan's and Mark's feelings but colleges are not a gold mine of talent for the NHL Sure you get lucky once in a while. If you want basketball or football players, oh heck yeah, mine the colleges. If you want hockey players, look to Canadian junior leagues or the European leagues.

Another issue is they painted themselves into a corner with the cap. They have almost 50% of the cap tied up in 4 players. Doesn't leave much to fill the other 16 spots in the lineup.

  4. Continually trading young guys for mid 30’s player isn’t the best idea, if this continues, dump the older players other then march, and start tooling the team

  5. Love seeing three generations of B's commenter's having a good and fun discussion. Much needed in these mediocre times. Lol

  6. We should have never gotten rid of Taylor hall, Hathaway, orloff, bertuzzi and maybe a few more. This team was new and was working its way up to something. This team is ass and I’ve been saying that for two years

  7. Hey Haggs fyi, Your guest Evan Marinofsky is currently the editor of the New England Hockey Journal, and also has a very nice Bruins Podcast called Bruins Beat on YouTube. You should be as enthusiastic introducing your guests as in promoting all of your gigs. That would be cool.
