Makar, by a [mile.](https://mile.You) You can let McKinnon go, pay the money he was getting to someone else and get 90% of the reproduction. You’re never getting another Makar at any price
Canadian__Ninja
They can easily afford both, but positionally I’ll take the Norris winning defenseman
Keijord
Makar, really a no-brainer.
cheesegooze
Makar easily. Rantanen has shown he can play 1C without issue and is possibly better as a center. Even without Rantanen Makar would be more difficult, if not, impossible to replace.
teamswish123
Harder to find Norris/franchise right-handed Dmen… Makar all the way
OldTimeEddie
Makar and that’s not really a choice.
TheRealOgMark
It may have been a debate if they were both 27 years old. It isn’t even Makar’s final form yet.
bluecrude
Makar. Not close
Melle--
Well Makar is actually signed past next season so this seems simple.
jeffroavs
We’ll pay both these guys and use Juniors to fill the remaining roster lol
DivineArcade1
Keep the Conn Smythe winner
Gooner48362814
Mackinnon is a ‘cherry on top’ player. Makar is a franchise player. Easy decision.
GraciousGrackle
Dumb question, especially if you’re talking right now.
Ask me in a few years, with the caveat that we’ve seen both players at their peaks.
Flex1855
Makar defense is the most important position and he’s younger
goatedgoat04
Is this a question you guys are really asking sure mackinnion is a veteran who has served his years but makar has potential to be an all time great don’t get me wring mackinnion is an AMAZING player but makar could be the next great
JuJewBea
Both. There is no option where either leaves. I don’t care if that the only 2 players we have, suit up DU to play with them.
Mwillcar
As a loyal Avs fan I feel threatened by this question haha
ZeppFo
Kinda interesting. I think Makar is better. If I was starting a franchise and had to pick between them it’s Makar no question. But on this specific Avs team even if you take out Makar they would still have one of the best Defense groups in the league but wouls seriously suffer offensively without MacKinnon.
mooseknuckle1001
Nobody is going to pick Nathan cmon lol
pinguhehe
Makar >
sextoymagic
Very dumb post. Neither will be leaving in any reality.
albableat
My guy doing Nate dirty with this one LOL
scandrews187
Makar. Superstar defensemen are harder to come by
AgreeableDouble8785
Even if they were the same age, you take a franchise Defenseman. They are so valuable and rare to find.
justaguy826
Makar and it’s not particularly close. And this is not an indictment on MacKinnon. Makar is just that good.
All_Canadian_Bud
How are you now? Good to hear
Makar. I’ll take an all world D all
CookieMonsta94
Well obviously you want to keep both, but if you have to pick one its Makar just based off age.
Scared_Flatworm344
Makar, but they are keeping both
Smaug33
If we can get a Josi for Makar then I would take Nate. But that is the only scenario.
Badgerdont
Makar but they’ll be able to keep both
BR1N3DM1ND
psshh, easy question. MacKar…n’n! *Obviously* we keep MacKar…n’n.
KrebsCollector
I like Mack more than Makar but a generational defenseman is harder to get than a star forward
Correct-Camel-7337
McKinnon
CountKristopher
Makar. Younger and harder to replace an elite defenceman. Nothing against McKinnon.

Makar. Seems like an easy question, honestly.
Keep them both and trade everyone else
