Listen. I love this comment… but I’ve also heard it before from our “#1”…

  2. Gee where did I see this one before…

Won’t believe it until I see it

  3. ohgodwhyme00

Love you Mat. I’ll believe it once it’s locked in, but god I hope so.

  4. Spybot64

PTSD is no laughing matter Mathew.

  5. ToweringIsle13

I definitely trust him more than Tavoldemort (and would be twice as crushed) but still…yeah…it kinda costs him nothing to say this…

  6. Asteroidhawk651

Matt, please do not post any pictures in canucks pjs

  7. TexasYankee212

Until he gets the deal done with whatever his next team will be.

  8. fWARWhatIsItGoodFor

I’ll take “things John Tavares has said” for $1000

  9. Benjamin_Stark

Hopefully the new coach lets him loose and he can go back to scoring like he did as a rookie.

  10. MegasMagas

At least he didn’t say “IN Long Island.”

Sort of unrelated, but when I started my new job a few months ago, I had a coworker talk about how she loved reading hockey romance fanfic or something like that, and how she loved Mat Barzal. She does not watch hockey and she thought Barzal was on the Devils. I thought that was funny

I believe mat wants to be here but if the season goes south lou should trade him. Nothing personal but rebuilds require assets

  13. cameraguy23

His agent must be screaming, « why did you say that!!! »

  14. Themrman333333

Don’t let us get a 2.0 of you know what

  15. StickNPuck69

But is it his childhood dream? Because it’s not every day you can live those, you know?

  16. bigtim3727

We’ve heard that one before, Mat! A certain player that will not be named parroted that same exact line 10000000 times, and it was all bullshit.

  17. priester85

What even was the context. I assume he was asked the question point blank, in which case there is not other answer. Every player of a certain stature is going to say that at some point in the career, whether they mean it or not. The only time they say anything else is right close to being a UFA when they say some version “we’ll see what happens in contract talks” but no one is going to give that answer when they have multiple years left before they even have the option of walking

  18. whitecorn

Next we will see him in Canucks jammies as a kid.

Second sentence: “if I have a scoring winger”
